Devonshire Farm/Kaitlyn Biear--Bend, OR?

I saw a few ads for seemingly nice hunters on Dreamhorse posted by this farm, and the trainer Kaitlyn Biear. I wondered if anyone knows/has experience with this farm or trainer. I looked up USEF and local show records but didn’t see any…not that that is a huge factor.

Seems she/they are new to Bend, Oregon and come from California. Have an acquaintance who found one ad interesting and am just doing a bit of background checking.

Can I make assumptions from the resounding silence on this topic that she/the farm is not well known? Perhaps not all she/they are self-reporting on the website? Or not?

Anyone??

I think the problem may be that there is just not that many COTHers in Oregon. It is not a huge horse state…

Looks like she’s from down here (San Francisco Bay Area) and had students on the circuit in our area, but I don’t recognize her name or barn. Must have moved to Oregon in the last year or so. Sorry I can’t be of more help! Maybe someone else will recognize the name.

Please beware of this “trainer.” Kaitlyn Biear is smooth talking, shrewd and able to think on her feet and be very convincing. If it sounds too good to be true it is! Don’t fall victim and be taken! All she wants is your money and will say and do anything to get it. There are plenty of reputable, ethical and trustworthy trainers and people selling horses out there but she is not one of them.

You might be surprised.

I wonder if she has permission to use all the professional photos on her site. Sheri Scott, JumpShot, Blue Sky, just a few photog’s marks I saw with no credit given in the caption.

I’m no help, Calvin, can’t say I’ve ever heard of her. But I’d guess that if someone is using a free site with a .webs.com address and standing a QH/Paint 4 year old 15.1h stud as a “sporthorse sire”, claiming that he has “smooth gates, wonderful scope over fences, and an excellent Hunter format” that maybe they aren’t quite up to ‘big time A circuit trainer’ status, just yet.

(ps. what’s ‘hunter format’?)

Kaitlyn Biear of Bend Oregon

I had a very bad horse transaction issue with her just last month, please beware. I agree with the previous poster, what a smooth talker. Since then I have found and recieved lots of information on what type of person she is. You do not want to get in any sort of relation with her, horse lease, sales, purchase, lessons or boarding. We had to call the police about our horse issue. I should have know when I googled her and found her mugshot, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought people make mistakes. I was wrong, she is just bad!!! Save yourself a lot of stress and find a reputable trainer. I also found some horses on Dreamhorse under Windy Hill Farms that are her’s.

Now wait one cotton pickin’ minute! We are too a huge horse state!

I live near Bend and would be happy to ask around if you like, but it looks as though you may have gotten your answer

Bad Person to do business with stay away!

Oh where do begin with this young girl of age 22.
She took me in as she acted so sweet and nice. She talked about her custody battle, and her ex loosing her 6 month old baby to the father. Why did that happen? HHHMM
She has been arrested and you will see her mug shot under BendMugshots.com
She lies about the age of her horses that she has listed for sale, Example she has a 20 year old + mare named Bo listed in the portland and Bend oregon area asking $7,500 and the add says that the mare is only 15. LIE! The mare is 20 years old +. She also had a mare named Liera knowing that the mare had a HITCH in her back, walked with a limp with the hind leg.
She also has a stud named Spider a quarter horse paint around 14. + hands that she just started to train for jumping.

[She] bailed on board and LIED about needing to take her stud to the vet to have him gelded. She took him to a different ranch called FLY SPUR Ranch in Tumalo Oregon.
She broke her 30 day notice along with the boarding contract with all three horses never putting any notice of leave in writing.
She then threatened to steel hay from the barn, because she thought that she was being over charged for board.
She will facebook you be your friend to act like she is real nice and take you for granted. WATCH OUT!

We are now taking her to court to re claim the board money that she still owes! Which we will Win!
Anyone that crosses her path with fall victim to her lies and evil ways.
She has bounced around from barn to barn to barn all over Central Oregon.
She needs to go back to California where she belongs!
If you have her in your barn now you will have a barn full of Drama, and she will run off your good paying boarders.

Please, we don’t want her back!!!:lol:

What is her website? I’m interested now

I know scarlet26 on this forum. She has a failing business where people have paid for a service and given notice to leave, then she turns around and says it’s their fault why their horses were not fed or the owners were hard to please. scarlet26 is a horse collector and she herself lost her child to a drunk, so look who’s talking.

I have had a client purchased a horse from Kaitlyn and she is very honest. I have had my client own the horse for a few years now in my barn and NEVER seen anything false about him or anything hidden that was not disclosed. Even the pre purchase vet exam backed her statements of his history up, that he was perfectly sound and never had an injury or lameness, as well as his age. We purchased him sight unseen.

Kaitlyn’s horses are treated well and are very well taken care of and yes, a lot of people in the horse industry know of her situation of going through a custody battle. Her ex is a drug and alcohol abuser that his family hid and supports. And he lied to the police to get her arrested. She has had a lot of support from her friends and others in the horse world. This is not someone people should slander and she only has others slandering her name, only on here because her ex’s family comes from money and knows they will not win unless they can keep her from continuing her business. I suggest people should not take others for face value and should make their own judgements rather then listening to others like scarlet26 who has been reported to the BBB twice for unethical business practices (several people in Central Oregon know of this). When people care about their horses, they don’t board them at a failing business who promises and charges for a service and does not deliver or charges for added services and never does them. FLYSPUR RANCH has been in business a while and if they were unethical and housed drama filled crazy people, I doubt they’d still be in business.

Everyone who knows business knows that those who are failing must have to say something negative about those who speak the truth and are honest. How come we never see or hear anything negative about Kaitlyn anywhere in the horse industry and someone has to write it online to find out? People have bumps in their life that they have to drive over, but if Kaitlyn has been with the horse industry for a while, and she continues to sell horses, train, show, everything, how come she still gets business? Obvious people who know horses or are even new to horses know that a lie is a lie and can smell one out quickly. If you can’t tell the age of the horse, there are vets to verify it or friends who can for you.

Plus, how does scarlet26 know anything ethical when her business has been reported to the BBB twice and she isn’t even registered as a business? Talk about a liar and a thief, let alone someone who thinks they can stoop that low to bad mouth someone else. Sames goes for nanbe and jazmine. Kaitlyn wasn’t even working or selling horses at that time because of her ex’s false claims and holding her belongings against her so she couldn’t sell her lesson horses. Kaitlyn had to contact others in the industry like me to see if we could help her out with promoting the horses. She had also just had a baby and how could anyone go right back to riding or working with a brand new baby? Do we even see advertisements for anything for Kaitlyn these days? Makes you think of her personal situation on the internet and her business just now being slandered by those who only want to hurt her for personal reasons.

Oh, and to scarlet26, I doubt you are having to bring her to court for owed money and that she threatened to steal hay. If you overcharge someone, I don’t think they will put up with it. And if she did have a stallion, I don’t think she could find new barns to go to so often because stallions are hard to house and loads of barns do not accept them. Check your facts first people. Don’t trust this forum for face value with someone’s personal situations and ex family members are personally attacking someone just to manipulate a situation to hurt others as their goal.

Now that they deleted their post mine doesn’t make any sense.

I’ve received a PM asking me to delete this post as it is “damaging” to the trainer in question. I am sorry that a public discussion of her abilities and program has been deemed “damaging”–but if you play in the court of public opinion, you need to be playing fair and square I guess. No, I won’t delete it.

Kaitlyn Biear has returned to California and has started a sale barn in Castro Valley under the name Derby Stride Farm. Will also come up as Derbystride Farm.

She is using the name Catrina Biear or Kate Biear

I have recently experienced exactly what others on this board experienced and alluded to. Deal with great caution and be sure the horse you are going to buy is really the horse you are getting. Vet check, vet check, vet check. Which is always good advise no matter who you buy from.

I’ll just save these for posterity, since they’re clearly from the same person.
