Hi everyone,
I purchased a Devoucoux Chiberta lab from the Devoucoux stand at Badminton Horse Trials last year and, whilst a lovely saddle, I am pretty concerned about the fit. From my previous experience with my horse and Devoucoux, I assumed with the right combination of half pads the saddle would fit my horse until I got round to having a rep come out and fit it. However, not only has it been pretty hard to get hold of my local rep, but I just don’t think the saddle design is best suited to my horse.
Whilst looking up re-sale value of my saddle, I stumbled across a number of CWD 2GS. Not only do I love the design of these saddles, but everything I’ve read on them seems positive and sound like what I’m looking for in a saddle. I’m currently not sure whether to have my current saddle re-fitted, ex/part-ex for another Devoucoux or sell my current saddle and buy a CWD.
Those if you with experience of both, how do they compare? I only have one horse but I ride 5-7 days per week and compete regularly so it would need to stand up to more than occasion al use. Obviously the CWD is more of a jumping tailored saddle and the Chiberta more eventing aimed, I primarily jump but also do a little cross country- does the CWD serve okay as a xc saddle? My horse is a high horse withered KWPN with quite an angular back and I’ve found Devoucoux’s naturally sit too low for him in front and when fitted to accommodate larger withers they just tip back.
TIA
Hamnah
