Deworming Barn Cats - Drontal Pills or Profender Topical?

Both Drontal and Profender seem to cover the same types of parasites. Which is better? Interesting that I can buy drontal on amazon without an rx.
Thanks!

Isn’t drontal just praziquantel? Profender is more broad spectrum, and easier to dose, since it’s topical.

Droncit is just praziquantel. Drontal is prazi, plus pyrantel.

As far as the easier to dose part, depends on the cat and to some extent the person giving the meds. One or our cats hates topicals (Revolution, anyway). You’d think we were squirting flaming battery acid on him and it’s a real rodeo getting it done. Thankfully he’s not aggressive about it, but I’m still planning on switching at least him to oral products when we run out of Revo. Many people are not comfortable giving cats pills and/or their cat is better about the topicals than the pills.

I use Revolution on all my barn cats. Covers fleas, ear mites and worms, so even though it can be a battle with some cats, you can take care of everything in one pop.

Having found a feral cat recently with so many fleas that she nearly died from anemia, I’m a firm believer in treating for everything.
