I’m relocating to the area within the next 6 months with my horse (currently working on 2nd-3rd level and I have my silver medal). I’m not set on a specific area yet, so looking for recommendations and also who to avoid. PM’s are fine
If you get no advise I will have my daughter reply once she returns from Europe in about two weeks. She does not ride under a local trainer since her trainer relocated out of state, she has followed him taking her horse to him periodically for a week or so at a time since she can work from home at his training facility however she does know the DFW market.
You may or at least should be able to obtain advise from either SMU or TCU students who ride on those schools equestrian teams teams since both schools are very competitive these days (SMU won the national champions again this year and think TCU place second national or if not was highly ranked)
One primary consideration is just where are you going to locate and work since the DFW area is really larger than several states combined it can get time consuming to travel from point to point as well as expensive since most toll roads here are flex priced by demand (I believe they call it dynamic pricing?) but it can and does get over a $1 per mile at Many Times. You can get Toll Tag stickers for your trailers also.
There are a lot of trainers in Dallas. A lot of them are north of the city. I can give you some names of people who are routinely at the shows in Houston but no recs. I’m sure there are more than these but here’s some i can think of-
