Diamond expands recall - now includes CAT food. BUT...

They’re not telling you WHICH cat foods are involved!!!

How’s that for (cough, cough) Good Customer Service!!!

The way Diamond has handled their mess is just unbelievable. First they say nothing about any contamination, then they issue a few product names that are affected, with product codes that turned out to be wrong. Then they corrected those and as the days slipped by over the course of more than a month (and counting) they added one or two additional brands a day to their list of recalled foods.

So far all of the detailed information has been about dog foods only (although there was a hint that cat foods were also involved when they said “pet foods” rather than just “dog foods”.)

Now, as of May 14th, Diamond is admitting that there are indeed some cat foods being recalled but they have yet to disclose WHICH ONES!

“The Diamond Recall Information website states “certain batches of several brands of dog and cat food produced in its Gaston, South Carolina plant” have been recalled. However as of this posting (May 14, 2012), none of the notices on the Diamond Recall Information website provides the specific information which brands of cat food are included.”

So does anyone know which cat foods are manufactured by Diamond? I guess they’re ALL destined for the trash or for store returns and refunds.

Way to go Diamond!!!

I would assume the same brands as of the dog food, but I wouldn’t assume it’s just those.

I THOUGHT I saw something about this recall having to do with low Thiamine. Oh wait, that was Purina

I sure can’t find a thing about the cat food :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Seems a few more people have gotten sick from the salmonella now.

It’s time for the gov’t/FDA to do something, and I can’t believe I’m saying that because I’m all for LESS gov’t LOL But dang, this is a good time for them to do their actual job.

Crap, my cats eat natural balance cat food and I know diamond manufactures some of their dog food which was recalled.:frowning:

CRAP. My cat’s on Natural Balance green pea/salmon. I tried to switch her to Acana, but once we get more than 50% Acana, she gets diarrhea.

To say I don’t trust Diamond-manufactured anything right now is putting it mildly. But now I have to figure out what to feed this cat that she can tolerate. :frowning:

Never been so grateful that my cats eat Purina One. They dont do well in premium food so I gave up years ago. Hmmmm.

Well great. My cats eat TOTW. So does one of our dogs (skin allergies) but we’ve already checked the serial number (or whatever the number is called) on the current bag. Being in WA the chances are smaller that we’ll get a SC bag but I’ve heard rumblings about something cropping up around here, or at least close enough to make me check the bags.

I haven’t looked into this enough to know whether my moral compass ought to be spinning me away from TOTW/Diamond in general. I just settled on it as the brand of choice for the kitties…
