Diamond Stud

Finally got to meet this guy in person yesterday. Wow! He first caught my eye when I saw him on the live stream from the 70 day test at Silver Creek. He is even more impressive in person. He’s a nice “medium” type, not too heavy, not too light. Very uphill neck, super elastic gaits, lots of freedom in the shoulder. Plus, he’s a shiney black package with 4 white socks. He seemed very sensible to handle and quiet in his stall as well. I haven’t many offspring of his out there. Has anyone seen any of his babies in person? Has he bred many mares outside of Highlife Farms mares? I’ve decided on him as my “Plan B” for SPS Wallis(Weltmeyer/Rubinstein I) for this year. I am going to give her one shot with frozen to Belissimo M and if she doesn’t catch then I’ll switch to Diamond Stud.

While I was at Dreamscape Farms I also got to see Sir Gregory and Sutherland Song. Sir Gregory was very impressive with his 3 very good gaits and strong hind leg mechanism. I think he is going to cross well on a lot of different kinds of mares. Sutherland Song was lovely as well. Beautiful and refined. I think he could be an interesting choice for heavier, old fashioned mares.

Glad to read this about Diamond Stud! I also loved him at the stallion test…

What a fun field trip. Lots of eye candy.

I have been told that the Oldenburg inspectors have been HUGELY impressed with the Diamond Stud offspring they have seen. I don’t think there are a lot, though, and most (all?) have been at Highlife Farms. There were apparently a couple of really stunning stallion prospects colts by Diamond Stud at Highlife that almost went unregistered because he had lost his temporary breeding license at the end of 2009 due to not completing his performance requirements by then. Thankfully he passed the 70DT at Silver Creek last October, so has now regained his license. It is a shame he was injured some years back as it has somewhat affected his gaits, but he is overall a super nice horse. I’m really glad he is standing at Dreamscape now where he will get better promotion.

Forte - not to go OT but did you see Der Dollar? PM if you’d like. TIA.

An exciting option for us breeders in Canada here looking for fresh. I wish he were approved Hano but maybe I don’t care so much…

He looks lovely in those videos under Lisa Wilcox. How tall is he Sara?

He is a true 16.3. Jennifer told me that he just got his first son (bred by Highlife) licensed for Oldenburg, so huge congrats to Highlife Farms! I agree, moving him to Dreamscape was a smart move. Hopefully he will start getting the mares he deserves. If I don’t end up using him this year on Wallis, I will certainly use him in the future. I was thinking that he may also be a nice cross on Forte (Freestyle/Wolkenstein II) who needs a little help in the height and bone department. Jennifer is also such a great SO to work with and they always keep their stud fees very reasonable.
Tasker, Der Dollar has not arrived at Dreamscape yet. I think Jen said that he will be coming very soon.

Just an aside . . . I hope Barb from Silver Creek is reading this . . . I know there was a lot of discussion regarding the live feed from the 70 day test and that it will likely not be available next time due to stallion owner’s requests. I just wanted to point out that I would never have noticed Diamond Stud or considered him for one of my mares if it had not been for that live feed. I was planning on going exclusively with frozen from Europe until I saw that live feed. So, stallion owners should note that they can increase their stallion’s exposure and attract mare owners through this medium. It’s not all bad.

I agree with this. I had noticed him before, but when I saw that live feed I was impressed, and put Diamond Stud on my very short list as a result.

I agree with this too. I really like him.

It surprises me that stallion owner’s do not want it broad casted. I would be sad to see it go. It’s a great thing being able to see these young stallions, and good or bad, it gives an unedited view. Mare owner’s rarely get to see unedited footage unless they see the stallion in person.

Did anyone breed to him this year?

I really like him and plan on visiting Dreamscape this summer for the ISR/Old inspection…hopefully I will be able to lay eyes on this guy. Really looking forward to seeing what he will produce with other peoples’ mares (besides Highlife, which obviously has a fantastic mare band)

I did!

Trinity,
I bred my wonderful Old. N.A. Pointmaker/TB mare to Diamond Stud on 5/25.
Last fall I had researched everything on the Internet I could find on him, including some wonderful pictures of Lisa Wilcox riding him at Highlife Farm.
As there really wasn’t much information available, i took a giant leap and called her to ask some questions about his rideability, gaits and temperament. She was more than gracious in her answers and praise of him, and told me he would be standing at Dreamscape Farm for 2010.
Jennifer at Dreamscape was extremely helpful and quick to get that semen from BC to Atlanta when it was needed. My mare took on the first insemination, happily confirmed in foal. We will recheck her around the 25th of this month for her 60 day ultrasound.
I am looking forward to this foal!

I also completely agree with this. He is also on my short list for 2012.

With Diamond Hit (Don Schufro and Donnerhall), Ramino, and Rohdiamont in his pedigree, even just looking at him from a purely pedigree perspective, he offers considerable interest.

Congrats Marex2!

For anyone wondering, I noticed the ISR/Old NA website lists his only offspring registered with them thus far:
o/o Westeria (by West Coast) foal scored: 8.4 type, 8.6 movement, 8.6 overall impression & development. Very impressive! I can’t wait to see more of his offspring

I wanted to re-surect this thread since I noticed that Diamond Stud is now back on Dreamscape’s website and is now owned by them.
Forte, did you end up using him? I have always liked him a lot but since he had dropped off the radar I had kind of moved him off my list.
Does anyone have any opinions on his jump? Would he be one of those dressage-bred horses that might produce a hunter?

Glad that you bumped up this thread winter. I didn’t end up using him, but I did just find out that I won a free breeding to him through one of Dreamscape’s Facebook draws. Super exciting! I am planning on using the breeding on my 2nd generation homebred mare Fortuna (Belissimo M/Freestyle/Wolkenstein II). Can’t wait to see what this cross produces!

Wow, how exciting to have the breeding. I wanted to enter the contest but was off the internet for a few weeks and missed entering.
That sounds like it will be a lovely cross.
