Anyone breed or know anything about his lines???

I just bred a mare to him, an EMC Hanoverian by Del Piero x World Cup I. He has a wonderful pedigree, by Diamond Hit with a solid damline that includes Rohdiamant and Lavarino. No SO provides better service than Jennifer of Dreamscape, and his semen was still in excellent shape after having an unexpected 24 hours at the Fedex hub before delivery.

I was at Dreamscape a few weeks ago and saw Diamond Stud. He is a very impressive boy, but personally I would not breed to him to produce an eventer. He is a big powerful dressage type and is not of the modern type I would want to breed to for an eventer. Looking at Dreamscape stallions, I would be more inclined to breed to Sagnol: long legs, very modern type, plus he has a son out of a TB mare who is over in Germany for the Bundes for eventing. Bon Balou, Novalis and Checkmate are also Dreamscape stallions I liked as potential event sires with the right mare. I think Bon Balou would particularly be good for producing an eventer with a mare with lots of TB blood.
Haha tradewin, sagnol was actually my original choice. I really like sandros star. I was looking to breed to sandros heir maybe too as he is out of the sandros hit line.
Tradewind, can you comment on his coupling? It’s somwhat hard to tell from photos but in person is he short coupled? I can see what you mean about him being big and less modern, not as leggy as some of the others…

I met Diamond Stud in person when he first came to Dreamscape. To me he is the real deal. He is an international quality mover IMHO. Not necessarily the long legged Sandro Hit type that is so popular now, but the real power and ability to engage the hind end that is necessary for an FEI dressage horse. I saw him in the stable and being lunged. He was very easy to handle but with lots of stallion presence and charisma. I am very pleased to be breeding my Belissimo M/Freestyle/Wolkenstein II mare to him this year. I don’t think he would be my first choice as an event sire. Talk to Jennifer, she is very honest about which one her stallions would be the best match for your mare.
I kind of want to breed my three year old Rubinus mare to him and have been going back and forth for months!! I am just starting her now and am trying to cut down on numbers but also have another three year old on the go so… I was initially thinking of him to her mother but she is 21 this year and I’m not sure if I should breed her again. The only thing is the mare is a touch long in the back. Love his athleticism and agree Forte that he is excellent behind. My mare and all her offspring (three year old included) are great behind and I want to capitalise on that. Some flashy moving stallions these days I don’t think have enough articulation in the hind leg.
Gosh, I don’t know. I don’t think he’s got enough scope in his movement, I’d pass… :winkgrin:

I knew Diamond Stud in FL and he’s lovely, very nice boy, but not an event horse. His babies could probably clean up at the lower levels where they don’t really have to gallop but I think they would be quite limited. He’s built to sit and collect, not to stretch out and gallop.
That said, I love this horse. He’ss an amazing mover with a fantastic personality. His mother was also a very solid citizen, a classy girl, but not such a modern type.

Agree with what Forte said. I would absolutely breed the right mare to him for dressage, particularly a more modern type mare. I wouldn’t say he is overly short coupled, ie. not in the popular modern sense, and if you were looking for a more modern, short coupled stallion to breed to a heavier, older style mare there are others at Dreamscape that would suit this purpose better (eg. Sagnol, Freestyle, Sir Gregory). On the other hand, he is not the type IMO that necessarily needs a highly modern mare, and I think he will cross well with a number of mares, particularly those that need that power and sitting ability behind. Like Forte said, he certainly seems like he would have the power for the higher level collecting work. He also seems to have a fabulous temperament.
Having bred multiple times to Diamond Hit, I would breed to Diamond Stud as well. My mares have a lot of Holsteiner which goes very well with this sire line.
He gets extra points from me for having Rohdiamant on the dam side.

Not only the Rohdiamant on the damside, but the Holsteiner Lavarino as well. I’m so hoping my mare is in foal; we will know on May 15.
We are getting ready to bred out TB mare to Diamond Stud this month. Just waiting for her to cycle. I think he will cross very well on our Tb mare to make a modern sport horse foal that will hopefully excel in the dressage ring. We have used this mare to cross with Hunter stallions in the past but I think she has missed her calling. Very excited to see what they produce together.
