Did Edgewood or HK Americana make Wellfleet Bridles?

Just curious if Edgewood or HK Americana ever made the Smart Pak Wellfleet bridles?

I recently bought a barely used Wellfleet bridle. Think leather still a little squeaky. The crown is stamped Wellfleet.

It has a single padded integrated crown, padded brow and noseband. The fancy stitching on the brow, nose and reins is very similar to the Edgewood pattern. The noseband hanger is hinged rather than sewn directly on. I have no idea the year of manufacture.

Feels lighter weight and less substantial than ADT, for example. I have never owned any Edgewood or HK Americana tack. I noticed, the unfinished Wellfleet leather side is a bit rough. I have looked through a bunch of sSmart Pak bridle photos available and can’t find it. Anyone know if it was made by Edgewood or HK Americana? Definitely, not a stitching pattern I have seen on Aramas or Nunn Finer.

Possibly HK Americana? Stitching looks the same.

Any ideas?

Harmohn Kraft made the SmartPak bridles for awhile, but I believe it’s been at least a couple of years since they switched manufacturing (maybe around 2018 or so? Probably around the time they redesigned the bridles).

The Americana line from Harmohn Kraft (which I believe is made for ERS now, along with Aramas, as both are listed on ERS’s site under their brands) has a very similar stitching pattern to the current Edgewoods, as well as the now discontinued Dover Wellingtons (which were made by Jeffries). I’m guessing that’s a relatively common stitching pattern among a few different brands.

I have an Americana bridle and the leather quality is not much different than Aramas IMO (or at least the Aramas I have). I believe Harmohn Kraft uses/used different leather for each of their lines/lines made for companies like SmartPak and Dover, as well as stitching patterns.

I think this is right. HK used to make the SP bridles but I’m not sure that they still do.

My understanding was the same factory that made HK made Wellfleet – but not that it was HK specifically. This could be inaccurate, it was just what I was told when I worked as a rep.

SP-line bridles were definitely never made by Edgewood.

Once at AETA the HK rep told me they “made” some of the SP bridles. Now this was YEARS AGO. I did not probe into what he meant by “made,” whether that meant designed, manufactured, shared a factory, etc.

Thanks for all of the information.
