I decided to breed my older mare this spring, and picked a local stallion in her registry for live cover. Mare was in standing heat, and we bred her on May 17th, May 18, waited 48 hours, checked her again and she was out. Vet said to ultrasound at 14-15 days. Took her for ultrasound on June 3rd, no black dot. Started checking her again on the 6th, and checking her every other day with my geldings that she will show heat to. She has yet to come back into heat to rebreed. What would you do, keep teasing, schedule another ultrasound… or did I just mess up the cycle dates? I have a great vet, but haven’t had a chance to discuss this with him yet. Or could she be in foal?

Your dates are fine. I would take her back for another ultrasound.
