Did I need a fourth cat? 7/28/23 Update: Kittens are grown up!

Yes, does the new family realize that we require regular updates?! You put that in the adoption contact, right?!

Their new home is not horsey so I didn’t warn them about COTH – but I have been promised updates. When I hear something I will share it with the fan club. You guys have been amazing. I don’t think I could have made it through the ordeal of unexpected kittens without the support and advice of COTH.

If you miss the pitter patter of tiny feet, look into fostering. Most shelters are overwhelmed with need for help.

It’s so rewarding. Not always easy to give them back, but you get better at it.

So I am probably way overdue for an update. Momma cat (Bunny) is now free range and comes up to rub on my leg. Cupcake and Jello are growing too fast. They do everything together. Eat. Sleep. Even poop and pee on coordinated schedules. They are still galloping around at all hours and trying their best to convince the other cats to join them. Cupcake and Franklin will cuddle, and Cupcake is doing her best to warm up HC and Blossom. Blossom still really wants nothing to do with them, but she has had her own minor emergency last week that requiredan ER trip. I came home from work and she was profusely drooling. Looked at her mouth and there were ulcers on her tongue. Took her to the ER and the vet thinks calcivirus (sp?) which may have been picked up from the TNR clinic. They gave us clavamox and gabapentin - awful to get into her but it must be the good stuff because she’s looking and feeling better.

P.S the two tuxies I gave away have been renamed Trouble and Mischief. I saw their new owner on Saturday and she said they are so sweet and totally settled in. I miss them but glad they got a home together.

Now I just need to get a can of that Stormalong Tropical Voyage hard cider!

What adorable pics! 2 & 3 are card worthy as is the “fighting” one. Is Jello the former Big Tabby?

Yes, Jello is the former Big Tabby.
I love the fighting one too - SO calls it the Matrix Shot.

P.S @Rackonteur the Stormalong TV was alright if you like cider. But if you really like Cider, I recommend Down East’s Deep Spring. It’s my favorite and a very strong drink.

I love that the kittens are starting early with their most weighty duty: keeping you from getting any work done (by blocking the keyboard, in case being cute isn’t enough).

Thanks, I will look for it.

Love the matrix shot!

They’re all great pictures. I have too many favorites to list. Lol

I’m glad Trouble and Mischief are doing well and settled in their new home. Hopefully their staff, er, human is just as enamored as we are.

How can Blossom resist the sweetness?? Never mind, my tortie Snickers, would as soon eat newcomers than look at them.

I hope she’s fully recovered soon!

Here is a quote from today’s page on my page-a-day calendar that a friend gave me for Christmas. I wish it had been the quote for a couple of weeks ago, but I want to share it here anyway because of our COTH kindles and their wonderful saviours –

“You’ve heard of a litter of kittens and maybe also a kindle of kittens. A lesser-known term for a group of kittens is an intrigue . This term likely became associated with kittens when the word entanglement was an accepted synonym for intrigue , since a rambunctious group of kittens definitely involves the entanglement of many tiny, fuzzy bodies.”

Would you guys believe it if I said these kittens are four months old? Time flies. They are kitten sized, but beginning to be cat shaped.

Jello has become very sweet and is always in my business. She loves her food and plays gently. She is a great reading buddy if you don’t mind the pages being chewed or her sitting on the book.

Cupcake has stolen Franklin from me, has learned to climb curtains, shred blinds, throw litter everywhere, harass anything affixed or tied to anything, thieve envelopes and any piece of paper not secured somewhere, and her favorite trick is unraveling the entire toilet paper and running around at 3 AM with it.

The mom, Bunny, has not ventured out of her initial ‘holding room’ but she now comes up to me when I enter the room. I haven’t tried picking her up yet but she plays, purrs, and will hang with me as long as things are not too noisy.

They’re all so big!! And cute!

Poor Bunny… looking up at Franklin so forlornly. Sounds like she’s doing well too since she’s coming up to you.

Wasn’t Jello the one that was huge when they were born? It looks like Cupcake might be bigger than her now. Cupcake has learned to be a holy terror.

They’re all adorable!

Ha ha Cupcake can do no wrong though :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: they are all so cute. Franklin is so handsome, love black kitties!

Oh man, I have let this thread get out of date. The kittens are doing great and look like mini adults now :sob:. Bunny is still timid but socializes with me and loves to be pet.

Enjoy your Monday cat spam:
