Did you ever just have a great day?

To make a long story short my friend and I decided to buy an investment horse together. We have casually looked for a while and last week a nice looking colt popped up, 3 year old TB, 16.2. Bay, super sensible, W/T/C intermediate rider, total kick ride, cheap but a little green. No vices, sound.
So of course we go to look at this unicorn and he is exactly as advertised. Seller and I have met before and she freely offers a two week trial, everybody is happy.

During the chit chat that ensued my friend is admiring the seller’s lovely Corgis. Friend tells seller that she is looking for a dog for her 7 year old daughter. Seller tells us she has a young rescue but sadly he did not like the two kids that had been there the previously. So it’s probably a no go.

We go back today to pick up the horse, bring the daughter and she goes over to see the dogs. The rescue Corgi comes right over, gives her a sniff, jumps up, licks her face and starts following the little girl around. Lets the kid hug him, rub his belly and the rest is history. So we came home with the chillest TB in the trailer and a super handsome Cardigan Corgi in the truck

The look on that little girl’s face will stay with me. Don’t get me wrong I am jazzed about the horse, he is really a heck of a find. It is the magic of a little girl and dog. It was just a great day, I think I will be smiling about it for weeks.

What a nice story, it indeed was a great day all around.

Finding such a handsome horse, happy dog and kid, that is the best kind of day.

Thanks for sharing it, we need those.

Love this story! So happy for your friend and pup. Every dog and horse deserves their own “adult” or kid to love.

Thank you for sharing! This just made my entire day…or maybe even my entire week!

Thanks for sharing! When everything is going wrong, it’s nice to know there are things still going “right” in the world

Thanks for sharing. I needed a happy day story!

It is day three and we are all still smiling. The young gelding “Arnie” is very engaging, he is a talker and loves to greet everyone in stall or paddock. He was a complete genteman for a grooming and mane pulling last night. Today he is getting a new set of shoes and possible pads for his flat TB feet. He is unshod now and pretty tender so, we can that out of the way and get down to actual work.

As for kid and Corgi, they seem to be a match made in heaven, Mr Doc (the Corgi) has been outfitted in the latest canine style of matching collar, leash and harness, has a sparkling new set of bowls, a deluxe day crate and a bevy of new toys that he is diligently removing the squeakers from. He is excellent at telling his young mistress that it is bedtime and he needs to start his beauty sleep no later than 9pm. According to mom he is likes to cuddle his kid and sleep with his head on the pillow. He is still on the leash until everyone is sure he is well bonded and knows the boundaries of his new home. He does like to eyeball the chickens so we will see how that goes but he and his girl have started adventuring on mini hikes to the barn, the goat pens and his little girl’s favorite, the fill dirt mountain. Glad he does not mind baths. :grinning:

Hopefully the 2 week trial goes as well as it did with the Corgi!

That picture of the Corgi and his little girl is everything. We’re so lucky to have dogs with us on this big blue ball.

Arnie is a handsome dude too. Great find!
