wife’s horse who is on stall rest was taken out to hand graze when he thought we had gotten a replacement of him… he was seeing his reflection in the trucks paint/windows
he was snorting at himself

That truck is wayyyyy too clean and shiny.
My TB was highly suspect of the mirrors in the indoor arena.
Who was that handsome guy staring at him?
They had shades to cover the mirrors when horses were turned out in there.
I saw him lift the corner of one, checking to see if That Other Horse was hiding
Reminds me of this article. 11 out of 14 horses recognize themselves in the mirror, guess we know who one of the remaining 3 are
Maybe he wasn’t looking for that Other Horse, but checking to see if he had hay in his teeth?
LOL, my last stallion used to puff up and ‘challenge’ himself when he’d see his reflection. He’d start nickering and then bellow. It was funny and then ‘not’ at the same time because it was often at our huge plate glass window on the back of our house. He sure did think he was something spiffy. My morgan gelding also is one who is very smitten with his own reflection.
we had a POA pony for about five years, then sold him as son had out grown it. SEVEN years later daughter had taken her mare to a Hunter farm to run their cross country course, while in the grooming area saddling up down the hallway comes a pony, her horse immediately recognized the pony as the POA that we had. They exchanged nickers acknowledging Hey its Good to See you.
he vacuums his hay, nothing is remaining, he has had to put on a restricted diet
But I really do not blame him as he was in very poor condition when my daughters (yeah both found him and pleaded to rescue him)
but he responded well in short order to good hay, this is about six months later
then he got too fat so now is on a very controlled diet
I was referring to my Peekaboo horse.
Who never lacked for groceries
Same TB once nickered in recognition of a gal who used to do the Ingate at shows.
Shows we hadn’t done for at least 4yrs
She’d become an equine massage therapist & came to the barn we’d moved to. In another state.
Why her?
But they remember humans too
