Distorted Humor

Could anyone tell me about his offspring as far as type, temperment, size ect. Does he stamp his get or they take after the mare.

Thanks

Distorted Humor is one of the perennial elite stallions of the last 5+ years. His offspring sell well because they tend to look good, develop early and since he’s very expensive they are usually out of very good mares.

They are often speed types most typically, thick hind ends and slightly downhill.
That said, he’s also the sire of BCC winner Drosselmeyer (who is stunning looking) and Alternation a G1 winner at routes. If the mares come from stamina, the foals seem to get it, meaning that DH is very much sought after. His first crop included Derby winner Funny Cide, so he’s not all speed. His BH page lists the damsires of his major winners and his routers appear to be getting their stamina from the female side. Distorted Humor was mainly a 7 to 8f horse when he was racing.

Here is his BH page:

I have a Distorted Humor boodmare that raced in NY during her career. She is the sweetest mare, big, average mover and resembles the sire in that he has a big quarterhorse type of rump and so does she. When she walked off the van in the middle of the night and then down the driveway with no lights on I’ll have to say she was an Angel.

After years of working with CANTER MA retraining horses, I caved in and bought one for myself. Letterman’s Humor is a stakes winner who ran 50+ times and raced until he was 8yrs old. He’s built to last and retired sound.

I like him because he has an amazing brain, athletic, uphill, three quality gaits, good mover and nice jumper. He’s green but loves to trail ride, paper chase and has been hunting. He’s the type you can ride all day because he’s comfortable and he never pulls on you. Very adjustable and balanced. He’s not a dead quiet horse but you always get the feeling that he will take care of you. Very good sense of self preservation. He’s never done anything scary even when in totally new situations.

Personality wise he’s a bit wierd and not the most social animal but who knows if that is his breeding or just years at the track. He’s a bit stubborn in terms of training but not in a mean way just more of a cocky I know better than you attitude.

He’s very well developed with nice bone and quality feet. More of a short compact type of horse which is my favorite type of ride. I figure he must be pretty damn tough to hold up to six years of racing.

Oh I thought this was going to be some racing jokes…

jlee!!! I remember seeing Letterman run. He was a cool old boy and I’m happy he found a soft place to land!

Linny- He’s awesome. The older horses are my favorite! Hard to believe he is a stakes winner as it’s hard to get him to go faster than a canter. He’s enjoying bossing around my herd and driving me crazy.

two distorted humor geldings

I am on my second distorted humor gelding. I lost the first to colic. He was lovely. I event. I bought the second two days after I lost the first. It was an impulse buy that has worked out perfectly. Both had decent running careers (each 4 years on the track, first 22 starts $175,000+ in winnings, the other 43 starts $101,000 + in winnings) . Both came off the track sound. Both have a lot of bone for tbs. I love their minds. Both are bold without being hot. They are not spooky. They are both close coupled and very athletic. I seem to buy my horses 6 years a part in age so my next distorted humor baby is a 2 year old now!!!
