DIY Arena Water Trailer

Has anyone built their own water trailer or seen any plans online to do so? Or is there a reasonably priced ready to go option?

Ours is the 550 g fire ranch wagon, very handy in fire season, also used to haul water, clean troughs and power wash machinery and barns.
Ours was sold to someone that never came for it and was not, years ago, very expensive at all.

This same company sells all kinds, if you look thru their sprayers, from little ones to any larger ones and booms to spray.
Ours is used for construction sites to water pads, roads and has two spray nozzles in the back that reach a good 30’, very easy to water the arena.

This just for ideas on ways you can water, check in your area who sells those, they may have used ones.
Any one spray rig with a large enough pump you can add a couple nozzles on the back and make it work for watering your arena.

I have seen one that was a trailer with two of those 250 gallon food grade storage barrels, a pump that runs on car battery, and a few sprayer booms. It worked and probably cost them less than $200 to put together (minus the trailer cost)

I agree with the above post. A number of my neighbors bought these used containers for under $200 each after Hurricane Helene, and used them to transport water from those of us with generators and working wells to keep their horse water buckets and troughs filled.

They are a great and relatively inexpensive alternative compared to water tanks marketed to horse farms.

I have a DIY one, built by a retired engineer with too much time on his hands. It’s an old truck axle with a welded steel and wood platform on top, and a 500gal water tank. There’s a spigot off to the side that can be used for emergency water bucket filling in the event of a natural disaster, just in case. It’s worked great for 20 years now. (Don’t mind the crookedness in the photo, it was badly in need of new tires here).
