DIY Outdoor Dog Grooming Table

Has anyone built something so that a large dog (80+ lbs) can jump up (or have stairs) to a table to get washed/groomed? I have an outdoor wash area (think 2 big posts, cross ties and open mesh mats) and am thinking of DH building something that I can move to the area, have the dog get on the table where I can shampoo and brush without killing my back. Or, if not possible to be portable and still be sturdy, I can set up another area where the hose reaches and have that for the dog. I know that DH can figure out something but I want to have some ideas to give him. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated!

This is definitely on my project list when I build a wash rack near the barn.

I am just thinking of a simple outdoor table like this: https://www.ana-white.com/woodworking-projects/simple-outdoor-dining-table

Hmm… if you also built the bench, then the dog could hop up on it to get to the table, and it could double as a place to sit when you’re not using it for that.

(My issue is that the 65 lb Labrador Retriever thinks she will die if you spray her with water, so I need a way to cross tie her on top of the table or she will run away. Maybe just a D-ring that will lie flat on top, with a short-enough leash. We currently wash her in the flatbed utility trailer, but that does require bending over.)

I have this one - it’s foldable. No way I could have made one for a comparable price. https://www.chewy.com/gopetclub-dog-grooming-table-arm-36/dp/133876?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=hg&utm_content=GoPetClub&utm_term=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI18KOrcLO4wIVBBgMCh04EwnpEAQYAyABEgLxiPD_BwE

Thanks Saskatoonian. I looked at those but how do you get an 80+ lb dog on it though? Wsmoak, I was thinking along the same lines but maybe using the platform for a mounting block when not in use. DH was thinking a platform with a ramp and rubber paint but he’s still thinking…:D. My GSD has back end issues so won’t be able to jump onto anything. DH won’t be able to start working on this for another month so I will be sure to report back with pictures if he does!

@Sweetums Mom I also thought of dual-purpose mounting block, but decided it would be too tall… you’d want waist height / counter height for the platform right? But, if the dog needs smaller steps up to it, the ‘middle’ platform could be for mounting and then another step beyond that for the table. (And perhaps someone with a really tall horse or an injury might want a very tall block!)

Ooohhh…middle platform is an idea, thanks! I’ve been bending over to the ground so anything a foot or more above it would make my day! We like tall mounting blocks (with appropriate steps of course) as we are old and creaky! Thanks!

Wooden Picnic table. The ones with attached benches. Dog could use the seats to climb up and you can stand at the ends to groom.

That’s a great idea jherold! Thank you.
