DNA testing to ID horses with illegible tattoos?

Does the JC still offer blood tests to ID Thoroughbreds or is it totally just via hair samples?

Someone affiliated with a rescue said they just had blood drawn from some horses for DNA testing, but I’m pretty sure the JC phased out blood several years ago.

I know the JC website has instructions for DNA hair samples, so I’m guessing this woman has no idea what she’s talking about? Just want to double check to make sure I’m not the ignorant one!

They do not blood type anymore, they run dna off the mane root.
