If i buy a treeless saddle that is a bit larger than i need it to be, does that affect how i ride in it? There is a Treadstone saddle that looks pretty nice on a local horse fb page and i am considering buying it, but the seat says 19 inch. in Western saddles i am typically a 15-16 inch. obviously it would be ideal to have the right size, but just curious if it matters a lot with this treeless saddle.
It matters just like a regular saddle, but you could use a sheepskin seat or cover to make the size a bit smaller. I’m unfamiliar with the Treadstone saddles, but I know the larger standard english saddle all the other parts gets larger too: knee roll farther away, longer flap, etc. But at a good price you can always resell (says the person with four saddles and one horse…)
thank you.
going to see it tomorrow.
Yes…it matters like irish-horse said. I bought a Ansur that was too large…on purpose because I had/have an issue with my tailbone area and thought that the larger seat would help avoid pressure on that area. Nope…the saddle was so large and having no tree, it actually put more pressure there and I had a hard time finding a balance spot in it because it was too big.
Certainly doesn’t hurt to look. but 3 inches is a lot of space to wallow around in.

i have decided not to get this saddle. Thanks for the advice.
