Hi all,
I’ve been having much difficulty with an appropriate barn to ride at. An hour to some of the other Baltimore farms is a bit much for me, but I just found Independence Hall Farm in Monkton through a Chron forum recommendation. Is it as good as people say it is? I’m under the impression that it is an A circuit barn. I’d also appreciate if someone could send me the contact information for the trainer. Thanks!
move along
I just plugged this in on Google:
Meredith and Rodney Bross, Independence Hall in Monkton, Md.
And got a hit on Facebook:
Pardon?
The farm is for sale. I would continue to look around, there are many other options. Where are you based out of?
Well, that’s singularly unfortunate. I really can’t go more than a half hour from my house, it’s too far of a drive with school. Caves and Persimmon Tree are at least 50 min, everything in Brookeville is an hour at minimum. I’ve also looked into going north to Kennet Square, but it’s again about an hour. I can probably stretch it to 45 minutes at the most. I’d rather not say where I live exactly online, but I can PM general location. I am in Harford County, if that helps. I’m honestly just looking for a barn that shows something that isn’t local circuit regularly and competitively now, since everything A circuit seems to be way too far.
Laura Leroy at Fox Creek Farm might be a good fit.
Already spoken to her and did a trial lesson, but she never contacted me again after I emailed about a second lesson. I was under the impression that she only does locals anyway?
Check out Courtney Sommers of Woodbrook Farm in Jarrettsville, she does local and rated. Laura mainly does BCHSA which has MHSA classes and some MHSA shows. Both are good trainers. Good luck!
I live in Baltimore City- what are you looking for? Baltimore is blessed with amazing horse country within a short drive from the city it takes me from downtown 20 minutes to Green Spring Valley to 30-60 going North to Monkton, Butler, Phoenix, Jarrestville - etc.
