Does anyone know how to pull up deleted Craigslist ads? URGENT

There was an ad on El Paso CL about a suffering donkey that they couldn’t afford to put down. I am trying to help, but ad was flagged and deleted. Ph number that I texted and called is not a good number. I want to make sure I didn’t transpose a digit.
Does anyone know how to use wayback or anything like that. The original ad link is in the thread I started on Off Topic under the title “Uggg…so upset”.

I’d really appreciate any help
Ad was on El Paso CL in “Free” section titled “Free Donkey”, posted yesterday about 10 pm MST

The ad isn’t coming up in any of the cache sites/search methods I know how to do. It may not have been up long enough to get cached.

However, from your other thread:

when I tried calling the ph number on the ad that I texted last night, a man answered and said he doesn’t own a donkey and maybe it was a joke.

I would bet even money the number you have is valid and the guy has had a LOT of nasty phone calls/texts/threats/etc as a result of the situation. Rather than deal with it any more, he’s denying all connection to the donkey.

Unfortunately, that probably means you are not going to find out what happened to the donkey.

I hope you do, but realistically, the donkey’s chances of help were probably ruined by the people who just can’t pass up an opportunity to call/email someone and give them a piece of their mind.

It’s possible, but the guy truly sounded clueless about the situation when I called. He didn’t sound like someone trying to be deceptive.

I appreciate your help though.

Jetsmom you found the original ad, right?
Can you go back in your activity history of your computer and find it that way?
Kind of backtrack…?

How do I do that? If I click on the history in address bar, it doesn’t show it…just the main CL page link, but not the ad…
I also tried View, and when it links to where the ad was, it is gone.

Alternate idea: can you post your own CL add looking for the owner of the original donkey? It might be worth a shot?

Try googling the title of the ad (if you can remember it) or something super specific so that the ad will pop up on craigslist. Hit the cache button to the right of the google result.
Or use the way back machine if you still have the link copied.

I doubt it was up long enough to be cached, so it may be gone forever if no one took a screenshot.

It’s pretty common for people to post fake ads like this (a popular one in my area is FREE GOATS) with a phone number belonging to someone who has no goats at all.

I’m not sure what the point is other than to harass the owner of the phone number used.

One time, my sister pissed me off and I posted an ad on Craigslist offering cute miniature goat babies for half the typical price… 20 calls in 5 hours and I considered her punished enough and deleted it. Strange things can end up on CL. I hope it was a joke

You called it! The ad is back up. I didn’t misdial the #. Texted guy again and he says he found ad and is going to report it.

There was a Craigslist hoax ad a few years ago (CA, or WA?) where the poster said they were losing the property, and leaving, so anyone who wanted their possessions or horses could drop by and help themselves. The actual homeowner came home to a stripped property, and stolen animals. They got the animals back, but I don’t know about the rest of their belongings.

ah, Craigslist - where trolls go to play :lol:
