Does anyone wear classic H/J show jackets anymore?

Hi All,

I was recently inspired by @Bristol_Bay! I ride dressage. That said, I have an older wool H/J show jacket that I used to compete in- in eventing and dressage through third successfully. It’s a “The Tailored Sportsman” jacket, i fairly light as I competed with it in Southern Western states, and I believe it is a size 8. The label doesn’t specify but I was a size 8 at the time. It is dark navy blue. It would come with a 12/34 Beutifort Riding Necessities white pinstriped show shirt and collar. All are in fabulous condition because I took good care of them. I’m not a size 8 anymore (never will be again) and have moved on from these items.

These items are yours if you pay shipping. I’d love to see them go to a great home! They were so helpful to me at the time!

I showed in an old-school wool coat today. I’ve moved to eventing and jumpers, but bop around the hunters for fun once or twice a year and wear my old coats for that. I think I was the only person at the show in a non-tech coat. Hopefully you find a home for your coat!

Thanks!!!

It could also make a nice blazer-type coat for someone… Just saying…

I do. I prefer the way the wool falls, the weight and I like the length. It might be I haven’t found “my” coat yet.

A local tack shop takes donations for IEA or The college version… Might be an option?

I do, depending on how much weight I’ve gained or lost any given season LOL! Plus they are nice for winter showing.

I still wear the “classic” stuff. It’s what I have and it’s all in good shape so I’m not spending money on new stuff for “fashion”

Put them on the FB groups like English Riding Apparel and English Tack Trader, you might find someone who still appreciates the classics!

I ride in the SE and FL, and given the weather you definitely don’t see anyone breaking out the pretty wool coats anymore. I miss looking at those beautiful fabrics but I don’t miss sweating in them in the hot weather!

Someone on this board claimed it for the cost of shipping! I feel like I wanted to “pay it forward” because I just obtained a very nice Cavallo dressage jacket from someone on this board for the cost of shipping. I received a great stock tie and pin with it. I’m glad a COTHer who I “see” regularly is getting my jacket and shirt.

Thanks for the suggestion, though!!

I’ve actually tossed on a lightweight wool coat at WEC Ocala a few colder winter days and when we were indoors. Definitely default more to my mesh and lightweight washables, but every so often, I like to do a throwback.
