Does my horse need an FEI pass in order to do Prix St.George dressage tests??

I hope the title is self explaining. We are starting to do 4th level right now, but I really hope that next year we will be ready for the next level. I was wondering whether all Prix St George tests are FEI level. And I am not talking about Schooling shows, I am talking about rated shows. And if it is FEI do I have to do something as well?? I know I am not there yet but I would like to be prepared. I know my horse has to get a chip and so on…

I may be wrong on this but I believe you can show all the way up to GP without a FEI passport so long as it’s in a national class (USEF). You have to have the passport to compete in a CDI class.

Thank you I was hoping that would be the case. In Germany its the same way.

Like TMB said, it’s only for CDI shows.

PSG is a test developed by the FEI but used in different show levels.

In Canada, to show rated, you need a EC Passport for your horse so you might need a USEF passport for your horse but NOT a FEI one.

In the U.S., at national level shows, (USEF/USDF recognised) you will not need anything more to show at the FEI levels than you do for national level classes (First through Fourth).

That includes qualifying for Regionals, year end awards and rider medals.

Passport requirements only kick in for CDIs.

Have fun in your tails!

Perfect  Thank you so much for your answers. Then I guess we can focus now on getting our Piourette right as well as well as the Tempi changes… And thanks @Hej that will be the biggest problem to get the tailcoat… Maybe a good Christmas present for Hubby… I really did not imagine anymore that I will need one in my life. But better late then never…

A tailcoat is fun, but not required to show FEI at national shows.

At one of the last shows I showed in, two PSG riders wore short coats. One because her horse was scared of the tails, and the other because it was a last-minute catch ride (original rider got sick), and she didn’t bring her tailcoat!

Oh really ?? Thank you! Thats good to know!! So really there is no pressure to get a lot of things organized

DR120.2
For all tests above Fourth Level, the dress code is: a dark tailcoat or a dark jacket with protective headgear, as defined in DR120.6 and in compliance with GR801, and white or light colored breeches, stock or tie or integrated stand-up collar, gloves, and black riding boots. Spurs are mandatory for FEI tests (except as noted above under DR120.1). (See DR120.8)

Dressage does not require microchip, just hunter/jumpers: https://horsenetwork.com/2016/01/everything-you-need-to-know-about-usefs-new-microchip-rule/

My friend showed her horse PSG and only wore a short coat. Not necessary to spend the $$$ on a new coat.
