Does this jacket fit me okay?

getting back into showing after a while

how does this jacket look?

I haven’t bought a hunt jacket in ages but it seems a tad loose through your midsection and shouldn’t it lie flat across your back? Sleeves are just a tiny bit too long? But that is easy to alter. It’s a pretty jacket on you though.

Too big all over, try a size or two down.

A size or two down should do it, it’s evenly big all over in the pictures so that’s a good sign.

I would try the size down, but I get so uncomfortable with jackets tight in the shoulders… so if the size down feels tight there, I would just have this jacket taken in. I buy my hunt coats a size up and then go to town taking in the body and then I feel much more comfortable in the coat.

It definitely looks too big everywhere.

I can’t stand a tight jacket either, and typically end up getting everything taken in. Unfortunately, though, the shoulder seams need to fit because other than remaking the entire jacket, those can’t be altered. And this one looks too big (wide) from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.

Sometimes one brand fits differently then another, try a same size with different label. This one is just too big overall. Too much to alter.

Pretty jacket but, yes–too big all over! I actually came here to say that the second picture of you holding invisible reins made me laugh–it is something every single one of us has done, probably, while trying on coats, and only riders would understand.

That’s what I was looking at when I said a size or two down. Long/loose everywhere, wide in the shoulders. A size down just might do it.

Is this an RJ Classics? I find their coats to fit about a size smaller than I would expect. So def size down.
If it’s too annoying to return it, just run it over to a local dry cleaner and have them alter it. Might cost you $40-50, but worth it.

that’s why i ordered a size bigger than usually because i heard they ran small lmao

i have a show next weekend and don’t have time to get to my local tack store due to work schedule so shopping online it was … hence why i hate online clothes shopping lol

the smaller size has already shipped tho!

You can totally get a tailor to get that put together by next weekend. Head to the dry cleaners and find your local seamstress! Tell her it’s a rush!

OPs choice but sometimes not that easy to make anything a size smaller all over. Especially in the shoulders and sleeves. Don’t ask….and once it is altered, no returning it.

I’ve literally had a whole coat taken in. I bought it wayyyy big because it was the right color and I loved in. They cut it about 3-4 sizes down. Easily done and looked custom. I’ve had others that have been taken in from sleeves, side seams and hemmed. Trust me. It can be done. I’ve had incredible tailoring on TS breeches too.
You realize that tailors do this all the time with wedding dresses and men’s suits. It can all be altered. Hunt coats are actually easy because they have so many seams on them typically.
