The stable I am at now has 3 bays 1 chesnut 1 gray.
Which I believe seems to follow the average. Read that sometime a long time ago.
I don’t know how the research classifies palomino buckskin cream perlino Roan.
Just wanted to see how real life matches to the data.
Of the three I work at:
6 bays (1 is technically brown)
8 chestnuts
2 grays
10 bays
2 chestnuts
1 gray
2 pintos (1 bay, 1 black)
2 chestnuts
7 bays
1gray
7 equines here:
3 bays
2 Greys
1 black
1 chestnut overo paint pony
Bay is my favorite color but I have had all sorts of colors. Always wanted one my even more favorite but rare color, buckskin, but one with the right movement, jump and price never fell in my lap so I have never had one.
I have:
1 bay (actually probably seal brown)
1 chestnut
1 silver bay
1 pinto (piebald)
29 here
3 paints
3 chestnuts
2 brown (icelandics)
1 buckskin
13 bays
7 black friesians
I think we are not average.
7 here:
6 bays
1 grey
sold my resident chestnut last November
9 here:
5 bays
4 chestnuts
1 bay
2 chestnuts
2 grays
1 black
And 1 brown donkey
20 here.
9 bays
4 chestnut
1 grey
1 brown
1 palomino leopard appy
1 bay with roan appy
1 pinto
1 silver (taffy)
1 dun
I may have forgotten someone, but off the top of my head, our barn has:
bay or brown - 7
chestnut - 5
gray - 1
paint - 3
black - 1
buckskin - 1
Three here:
2 bays
1 dun (does that count in the bay category?)
2 chestnuts
1 sorrel
1 bay
1 black
Approx. 42 horses total.
Bay: 7
Brown/seal bay: 2
Chestnut: 5
Palomino: 1
Buckskin: 1
Black/white pinto: 12
Brown/white pinto: 5
Gray: 5
Appaloosa pattern: 2
Grullo/smoky buckskin (I’m not really sure): 1
They breed Gypsy horses, so the number of pinto patterns is probably disproportionate to most other barns.
2 chestnut
3 black
4 grey
10 bay (most are dark bays)
And 2 we just call brown lol
Don’t think I fit the numbers
5 horses here:
Black & White Paint
Palomino Leopard Appy
Seal brown Standard Bred
Grey AQHA
Chestnut & White Tovero Paint
2 chestnut
1 gray
1 pinto
2 black
4 bay
Let’s see, out of 9:
5 bays
1 grey
1 leopard/roan Appy
1 bay pinto
1 chocolate sorrel
Small dressage barn:

7 chestnuts, including an Appy (mine)
