Since we adopted a high energy dog that loves a job, I’m motivated to start hiking again. I live in a hiking friendly area.
She needs a backpack that she can carry her own things and have a job. Any suggestions on gear for her?
My beagle is not a hiker, so this is new territory.
Ruffwear brand for sure. I’ve had several for so many years the models/styles are different now, but rugged, good quality, well-balanced. Their harnesses are wonderful, as well. I like the Flagline harness for the double set of belly straps and the handle on top, while still being lightweight.

We have various jackets as well for our pack in different weights.
We have a pack for two of our dogs and they fit really well. I did add some halter fuzzies to one pack strap that went in between one of our dog’s front legs but he is very narrow in the chest and of the pack to sit correctly had to be fairly tight.

Our dog was a great hiker and we had him carry his food in, and the garbage out. That way it didn’t matter if he went for an impromptu swim or wade in a bog.
