I need recommendations for a car seat cover for when I take my doggies in the car. One that fits the backseat bench type and preferably waterproof since once my dog had a diarrhea accident. Thanks.
I just bought a couple of cheap quilt-style comforters for the bench seat of my Tahoe. I haven’t had issues with moisture penetration. I have a really big Rhodesian Ridgeback.

I wonder if one of the hammock styles would be best to prevent ah…liquids…from getting down in between the seat part and the back part?
Something like this? http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=11123
I second the hammock style! It keeps your dogs from getting flung to the floor if you stop even a bit short. My 4 dogs come everywhere with me and I have a canvas one with pockets that just slips over the seats and is waterproof
This is the one I have and it is the best!

This site had a ton of good ones too:

I have one for the front seat as well - it has nylon strips that clip together and slip over the seat. One side is fleece and the other side is waterproof canvas, so it’s good for my corgi to sit in the passenger seat. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it will shift around if she moves too much.
I typically just wrap a mexican blanket or thick towels around the bench seat in my truck to keep dog dirt off. That won’t help for the liquids, though. Maybe try one of those anti-bed-wetting mattress covers, then cut it to fit your car’s seat?
I have this one from Orvis and I really like it. I used to put a blanket on the back seat, but dirt and sand would still get everywhere. This has raised edges, so the dirt stays in the hammock. I throw it in the washer and drier once every few months and it comes out looking new. It’s also easy to take down quickly in case you need to use your backseat for humans.
Edited to add: My dog puked on it once – nothing seeped through!
I like the look
of that hammock-y looking thing, but just like the one they advetise on TV, they seem to assume there is a raised head rest in the back seat! FAIL! Don’t have one of those. So what do I attach any of these to? My dogs LOVE to go riding in the car car, and I am in desperate need of one. I think the one advertized on tv will work but for the lack of a back seat head rest!

same. I’ve been looking for one too, for our rottie. I did find a couch cover and have thought about using that I found it at big lots for the same but I’m not sure my dodge stratus backseat is as big as a couch so where and what to do with extra fabric?
I did a quick Google search for “dog hammock no headrests” and found some that say they work with or without headrests.
This site has a couple: http://www.hunterk9.com/site/870877/page/849951
I haven’t seen or used them, so of course I can’t say what they’re like.
Also, on my previous post I forgot to include the link of the one I like from Orvis. It’s this one (needs headrests, though):
I have one from Kurgo that I love, it can used as a hammock or as a seat cover, and has a zipper so that you can have half of it down for a passenger. Bonus is that it came with a handy carry bag and water bottle. It’s durable and waterproof, I use it daily to protect my seats, but it does a great job of keeping the Corgi hair contained and off the seats.
Duluth trading post! They make a WATERPROOF (pull the cattle dog out of the pond dripping wet and the seat stays dry) canvas/fleece seat cover. I’ve had mine for 3 years now, washed it a bunch, and it’s still super waterproof. They make a bucket seat, bench seat, and hammock style one. http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/product/seat-protector-scouts-seat-saver-32006.aspx?kw=Dog&processor=content I think the hammock one is about $40.
I found a waterproot American Tourister brand at Petsmart last year. Just checked the website and they still have it. It has held up to the barn dirt, mud and two corgis…

I second the Krunco hammock. I got mine in 2015 and it has totally saved my back seats. Easy to install, clean, etc, and relatively inexpensive. Mine is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HI762M8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought Weather Tech (American made) for my Dodge pick up. They also custom laser fit floor mats and trunk mats for your exact car and age of car. It is tough, waterproof, seems to be perfect for me.
Love my $20 Amazon Basics seat cover! They clip around the headrests so they stay in place but are easy enough to unfold and install one-handed while holding a coffee and a dog dancing at the end of the leash.
My friend turned me onto them because she has a car barfer. They wipe down easily but they’re inexpensive enough that if one gets too nasty she just throws it away.
I recommend getting one that drapes down over the sides of the seats (next to the doors). My dog likes to sit behind the driver looking out the window. The hammock always gets pulled towards the middle when she sits on it, and then her front feet end up on the edge of the seat instead of on the cover.
I had to get my car professionally detailed to get stain out.
It sounds like your dog may be car sick? There are great meds to alleviate that now.
My dog loves to go to the beach and swim so I have a large, (measure your seat) piece of vinyl fabric I bought, I just drape it over the seat and back and tuck it into the seams by the doors. It wipes clean and sand shakes off.

These are hands down the best seat covers I have ever had. Lightweight, waterproof and hair DOES NOT GET THROUGH! They are in Canada but you can also find them on Amazon. There is a US distributor also. I went to the website for the size chart and bought front & rear seat covers. Originally I thought they were a little pricey but will never buy anything else as long as I have dogs that spend time at the barn, dog park and beach!
