I have a run off a dog door with chain link fencing. It is currently 5 X10 and will soon be expanded to 10 X 10. It has gravel and some mulch for “footing” with some patio blocks along the edging.
What would anyone recommend as footing when I expand? It is for two small dogs that do not dig much. Would like it to be fairly easy to clean, not too hot in summer, and not too expensive.
Gravel or limestone screenings. It’ll pack down, drain, and stay cool in the summer.
We have crushed limestone in all our dog runs. Super easy to clean, doesn’t attract bugs & it’s much easier on the dogs than being on concrete.
We use bluestone dust/screenings for the kennel hounds and it works really well, both for ease of cleaning and comfort for the hounds paws.
