Dog terrified of a ceiling fan

I wish I was making this up but after almost a year of owning this dog, she is suddenly terrified of the ceiling fan.

She’s a one year old husky/shepherd mix that we adopted when she was a puppy. She is protective of us, but has never been aggressive.

It started last night and now she is terrified to go by it. She barks/growls at it. Unfortunately the only way to go outside is in the room with the fan. She is terrified of it even if it is not on. She won’t come inside because of the “scary” fan.

The fan is not going to go anywhere. She will have to get over it somehow. Right now we are feeding her underneath it and spending time in the room.

Any other suggestions?

Because she has been fine with the fan for so long, I am concerned that there could be some sort of wiring problem causing a smell or a sound that could be freaking her out.

It has been off since it has been winter. We just checked out the fan a month ago. No noises/smells that we can sense.

My husband said she just looked up at the non moving fan and started barking.

She is slightly paranoid and looking up in every room.

Our other dog could care less and just looks at her like she is stupid.

But it it is slowly getting better from the other night.

I have a female mutt who is my “tin foil hat” dog. She loses her ever loving mind about anything above her (including almost running away because of a hot air balloon). She spends about 50% of her life looking skeptically up at ceilings, plane vapor trails, trees, and the sky. She’s a hot mess. From time to time, the fans in the house are monsters, but it comes and goes.

I’ve had her since she was a wee thing and nothing bad has ever happened to her. Never had anything dropped on her, no injuries/health issues, and never a harsh word (she’s also the sensitive type). Thus far, nothing has been able to explain her fixation or solve it. Maybe she hears voices? Sees ghosts? Is communicating with aliens?

For now, I just stock up on the tin foil for her. Maybe that will help your pup!
