Poor Romantic Star. I remember him showing with Chad and he was sweet and such a gentleman. I hope they can all get away from Jill and that he pulls through. Who knows how many pregnant mares are there…
Not everyone lives in CA though. So it does make it quite a bit more difficult.[I]
It has been mentioned several times on this thread by real life lawyers that you don’t necessarily have to file in CA.
Correct. There is a large law firm in New Jersey that is willing to advise and assist anyone in NJ who had problems with her.
And on Jill’s site, she has the inutero foal, Devils Sis x Romantic Star for sale. Looks like she would be due in the spring.
This is the California small claims amount, as of January 2012, according to Nolo.com:
$10,000 (effective January 1, 2012), except that a plaintiff may not file a claim over $2,500 more than twice a year. Limit for local public entity or for businesses is $5,000. $6,500 is the limit in suits by an individual against a guarantor that charges for its guarantor or surety services

Devil’s Miss is a 1993 mare. This one is a 2001.
If you believe her website, she is expecting 33 foals for 2013

I was just looking at that. Mind boggling! Many of them are already sold in utero!

I think if you can take anything from this whole thread it is that nothing on her website is to be believed. It’s a brilliant piece of fiction.
I think the ones with due dates listed are the ones who are actually in foal. Of course this is the master of deception we are talking about…

I agree as this horse listed below never came to her barn (was mentioned previously in threads by the owner and earlier in this one too I seem to recall).
Rio Vista
17.0hd Hanovarian by Rio Grande
We are expecting a large dark foal with exceptional movement and jump. The foal combines Rio Grande with Redwine for hopefully a spectacular hunter or hunter derby horse.
Inutero foal - $8,500

They have now updated the COTH article. Interesting as that mare isn’t on her page at all, or maybe I just can’t find it? Which one does she really have, or both? Names are just so similar but are from the same sire. Is it normal to breed a 20 year old mare? According to progeny reports her last foal I see listed was a 2005 TB bred in MD that raced.
“the Marin Humane Society responded to a complaint about the property, at which time they impounded one of the stallions, Romantic Star, and a mare that was named on paperwork left with the Burnells as Devils Miss”

Isn’t that the one where she sued the owner for $10,000 on a $500 horse?
The mare is Devil’s SIS.
The articles state that there are 30 horses involved yet on the website there are 4 stallions, 11 young horses listed on the sales page, and 34 broodmares which is 49 horses. Hopefully, Jill was able to get her numbers down and has just not updated her website.

It is Devil’s Sis. COTH needs to edit their article.
As for breeding a 20 year old…Jill has a few 20+ yr olds in foal on her website. Of just the ones that have 2013 due dates listed: Metsonized is a 1989 model, Radieschen is a 1992, Rain Time 1992, Diamonette 1993. There are others that are that age or close to it as well.
Has anyone noticed that Corlandia is having two foals by redwine with both sold to seperate people (is she really doing ET?).
Any update from Cris regarding the colt that Jill allegedly sold out from underneath her and cancelled her vet appointment, etc?
And she was never bred. I know this for a fact.

I’d sent them a message about that this morning with the link to the GFF page for Devil’s Sis this morning, and they edited it later and then added that based on paperwork it’s Devils Miss.
Is that the same horse as this one that came up on a google search or another one entirely?

“Apparently, all of Jill Burnell’s craziness and frauds have finally caught up with her. There is a big thread over on Crotch. I know, sorry, but I went over there because a friend of mine bought a foal from Jill recently that Jill sold to someone else before my friend could get from PA to TX to get it and I just heard from a few people about the thread.”
Regarding the people who are allegedly “helping” JB by having her horses put in their name: wouldn’t that make them accessories to whatever JB is found to be guilty of ? Conspiring to defraud ? Likely to be prosecuted ?
It would seem like anybody with half a brain would stay clear of this kind of con artist !
