We had good dealings with her in the beginning, too, but when she owed us money is when she began to spread rumors. She is sneaky about how she does this … she sends PMs and emails, via her blog, and posting as alters. It has been her MO for years and so many people have been burned (more than just financially). I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this now. Hopefully, now that people are aware, this behavior will be deterred.
OH wow
THe name kept ringing a bell, I think I used to have her as a friend on facebook. Very sad situation.
I probably shouldn’t have said anything. I am from TB land, not to mention I DID have a mare bred to the wrong stallion once live cover. If mistakes like that can be made when the horse is right there in front of you, it is hard to trust a box. The idea of not doing DNA concerned me the minute I found out that wasn’t a requirement due to my past experience. Sort of like all those women on Maury who are sure the guy is the father. They still want to see what is inside the envelope.
Oh boy…I have known Jill for many years, we rode together as kids. Even before all this she was selling TB’s as “Canadian” WBs. I have been in that house, it was 3 yrs ago and not quite that bad…yet. Her lab is in the kitchen. A couiple stallions are in back paddocks with no shelters. I have seen Romantic Star standing in mud up to his fetlocks in the pouring rain with no cover or blanket. I have seen the babies out in the dry lot pasture in a rain storm shaking and soaked. They were 2 months old. When I was a vet tech, we would go in her barn to see the babies and it smelled sooooo bad of urine soaked bedding. The stalls got cleaned maybe once a week. My boss (Dr) was shocked. He told her that for the sake of thier lungs she better get the stalls cleaned. I knew this time would come… and Craig Fury really is her brother. Her parents are wonderful people. Crap.
Dear God… her poor pets and family. And makes me sick to hear about poor Romantic Star and those foals. All this money she is bringing in from sales of foals and stud fees (yes, I know it is expensive and she may not be breaking even but let’s get real… she doesn’t pay her bills anyway so not like it matters) and no shelter or blankets for her horses, no clean home for her pets and elderly parents.
Sorry she can hoard all she wants solo with no animals, but ungodly selfish and cruel in this situation.

Sorry Runwayz , must be difficult for you.
I have seen this coming for a long time. She was never a close friend, but I do have a lovely Redwine filly thanks to her. I actually helped collect him too. It is a shame to see this happen and worse is that people still support her and buy from her. Granted the babies are very nice, but the shallowness of people to just have a nice horse needs to stop. Jill should not be allowed to continue breeding. All her pictures are taken in front of a section of nice fencing on a small plot of green grass, or in front of the neighbors place. What a sham! The mares are just “walking uterus’s” as Jill herself once said. (and I have a witness to that, so she can’t sue me for defamation of character"!
This is a really sad situation. I have been thankfully warned by many not to deal with her even though I do like some of her stallions and what they are producing. Cudos to you Yvonne for taking in your in-laws and rescuing them. I hope she gets the help she obviously needs.
Wow. And Jill just keeps sailing along… continuing with her evil ways… ripping people off… will she EVER pay for her sins? In my experience the Humane Society/SPCA in California is close to being worthless.
Urciegirl, you are right. For as many times as they have been out there, as long as the horses look well fed they do nothing. And she keeps telling them she will put up shelters and never does. They dont even have a tree or anything. Really sad to know that she is/was an RN! She took care of people at one time!

Honestly? Humane Society? SPCA? Her elderly PARENTS were living in that house.
So she is doing ET???
She has sold both of her inuteros out of Corlandia both by Redwine…
hmm is there any documentation that they exist?
Isn’t parentage verified via DNA for registration either prior to inspection or at inspection?
Yes.

But it doesn’t concern you now, and you don’t want to see what is inside the envelope?
IIRC, Old NA/ISR does not require DNA on foals resulting from fresh semen breedings. I cannot imagine why. Perhaps they should look into a policy change?
Also, I know she didn’t keep the stallion dues paid up to the registries before? Did she activate them and pay this year? I wonder how all these foals born this year are going to be registered? A nightmare of a situation.
has anyone put this on other forums? It is time for this to come to light, and now that her brother and sister in law have so bravely come forward, now is the time. Your average mare owner will have no way of knowing any of this unless the word is spread far and wide…
So we know she has an active FB and even the likes of Brandon Gibson are on there recently begging for her to respond to them. You know THEE Brandon Gibson that handled her filly to a win at Devon.
Why are those photos not posted on her FB page for the rest of her unsuspecting clients to see ?
I’m sure she’ll take them down as soon as they are up…BUT, if everyone shared a link to this forum on their FB page, I’m sure it will spread quickly…
She has my mare Diamonette, purchased from Irish Hills Farm, who is now 19 years old, I would love to see her come home… but would not even know where to begin to get her home. This just sickens me.

Jill Burnell is my sister-in-law, andI recently had the unfortunate task of entering Jill’s home to move her 80 year old parents out of her house, into ours. I have to say, I was horrified. It was a classic case of "hoarding"and quite frankly, elder abuse.
My reasons for posting this are as follows. I know that you love your horses, and have a huge investment in them. I also know that many of you purchase semen from her. I have included a link to photos I took in her house, and of the “lab” where she prepares the semen product to send out to you.

My understanding is that anything that goes into your horses bodies should be prepared in a clean enviroment, if not a STERILE enviroment. You will see the area is cluttered with rotting food, dirty household items, and dog feces. There isn’t a clear place to step in the house where there isn’t a pile of garbage or feces. This is where she has been preparing the product for you to inseminate your beloved horses. Apparently, she has been raising chickens to sell as well, and had them in a bathroom not 20 or 25 feet from the “lab”. The bathtub had DEAD chickens in it. It just added to the horrible smell of the house, as well as potential for disease.

She let the property forclose (no loss to her, as her parents sold THEIR home to get this one with Jill) and has another property now. There are NO barns, and NO shelters of any kind for the horses. I have seen first hand how she “takes care” of these poor horses. In the winter, they are left to stand in the rain and frost and heavy winds with no protection whatsoever. Animal control has been to her place many times because of complaints by neighbors.
This woman has no compassion for animals, no scruples, and no conscience. I only hope she hasn’t sickened any of your horses thus far. As soon as I can, I will post photos of her new property.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
How awful.
