Well yesterday was farrier day and the injection went smoothly with no issues. I will continue practicing by drawing a cc or 2 of blood on a regular basis but I’m relieved to have the first one over with.
Good for you!
I had a vet teach me once. In the next, oh, say, 5-10 years, I only did less than a dozen IV injections. The last one was an adult mare who was barely halter broke. I was supposed to change a large bandage on a hind leg - alone. I could NOT find the vein - she was all over the place. After trying numerous times and missing, I called the vet. After that, I lost my nerve. Haven’t done it since. I’d like to do it again, but I feel like I’d have to start all over, as now I’m more fearful.

I totally get that. I would not do a horse other than my own, except in an emergency, and I wouldn’t be comfortable with him if he didn’t stand like a rock while I’m poking and prodding.
Good job!
