That’s MS. Social MediaViewer [sic] to you, Mr. Slaughter.
Wow, well apparently reality is still falling on (Slaughter’s) deaf ears… the writing is on the wall (again and again and again) - SO, to all the “Social MediaViewers”, “Readers”, “Executive Trainers”, and whom ever else I left out…
Again, not surprising Slaughter believes his word to be more true and correct than a California Superior Court Judge (in my personal case), the United States Equestrian Federation and the cumulative ‘word of mouth’ in the oh so small world of equestrian sport. If there were good news to report it would have been reported; since it is all bad news, that is what is reported. Funny how the truth always shows its pretty little face. Again, the USEF link which lists the suspension, i.e the TRUTH; Google it if you prefer:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:9GcedgDvq9IJ:usef.org/documents/rules/HearingCommittee/2012/AugustAutomaticSuspensions.pdf+usef.org/documents/rules/…/2012/AugustAutomaticSuspensions.pdf&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
Per Merriam Webster Dictionary, “slander” is defined as “the utterance of false charges or misrepresentations which defame and damage another’s reputation”. ***KEY WORD being FALSE… When claims are witnessed first person and there are documents, other unbiased witnesses and court rulings all supporting these claims it is therefore and in conclusion not false, rather, it is TRUE! Very simple logic to follow, of course when operating in reality. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/slander
The BBB currently lists Equisport International Show Jumping with an A- rating due to the following explanation: "Our complaint history for this company shows that while the company did respond to the one complaint brought to the company’s attention, the response did not address the complainant’s allegations." ***While I was not personally responsible for that BBB complaint, that is what I experienced and have court documentation which supports the pattern of his evasive behavior. Also, the link Slaughter continues to copy-and-paste is dated, i.e prior to the complaint… here is the current report OR again, Google it for yourself:
http://www.santabarbara.bbb.org/business-reviews/Horse-Training/Equisport-International-Show-Jumping-in-Camarillo-CA-92002615
And last but certainly not least, I would like to point out the very basic psychological defense mechanism that Slaughter is well, slaughtering. It is called PROJECTION! Per Encyclopedia Britannica:"Projection is a form of defense in which unwanted feelings are displaced onto another person, where they then appear as a threat from the external world. A common form of projection occurs when an individual, threatened by his own angry feelings, accuses another of harboring hostile thoughts." ***Also applied to actions, i.e Slaughter accusing others of lying when in fact HE is the one lying (you get the picture).

Ugh. I rest my case.
Yikes - this guy and Jill Burnell in the same state!!

It’s a big state, but still.
Tip to Mr. Slaughter: Libel is written, slander is spoken.

Further, in order for a claim or statement to be considered libel or slander the statement or claim being made must be false (i.e not true). When the USEF and a Superior Court of the State of California Judge each rule that the separate claims true, it is therefore accepted as true and thus neither libelous nor slanderous.
… Just so it’s crystal clear for Slaughter… he seems to like repetition anyhow.

Apparently, I’m making up user names to post on here, lol! Oh and I’m also paying people to make up stories about him!! Funny as everyone has come forward to me or been willing to talk, in fact 3 people last week alone emailed me!!
Hahaha, this is seriously becoming full time entertainment!
So, how much are you paying me because I don’t recall getting paid by you OR by Slaughter, lol!
If Slaughter doesn’t actually know who I am then that just adds more fuel to the fire… which leads me to ask, just how many judgements are out there against him, exactly?
WOW! I have enjoyed my wine and reading this! Looks like Mr.Slaughter finally dug has own grave! I have never posted on here however been a member for years! So no I’m not paid!
Hey Don! Whom is Elite Equestrian? Thought that was you aka owners of the 3 horses suspended along with you? Looks like “YOU” didn’t pay your bills at Thermal! I wanna say you we’re boarding the grey horse In Thermal next door at the Polo place and he had a lock and chain on his stall? Was that him? Oh for no payment there also? Not accusing you of anything just asking?! Would love to hear and not just a re-post of your original post!
Certified???
Buuuuuttt, you guyyssss, he’s
CERTIFIED BY THE UNITED STATES HUNTER JUMPER ASSOCIATION !
Come now, isn’t THAT a ringing endorsement!?! :D:lol::D
Funny, he doesn’t seem to be listed as a certified trainer on the USHJA website.
http://www.ushja.org/programs/tcp/tcp_directory.aspx
This is quite an interesting claim for Slaughter to be making on his website since part of the extensive process of becoming certified is to have at least 3 other certified professionals whom are familiar with your abilities write recommendations to the association.
http://www.ushja.org/programs/tcp/tcp_apply2.aspx
^Yes, he is… if you look on the directory, he is listed right after Torri Siegel Dragos.
Not that I’m otherwise participating in this thread, since I know none of the parties involved (including the trainer), but just saying he does appear to be certified.

I suppose I just assumed he & Equisport were suspended in the USHJA as well since there is a current USEF suspension which has an effective date of 08/22/12 with no end date:
http://www.usef.org/_IFrames/Searches/suspendedExhibitorResults.aspx
(www.ushja.org/programs/tcp/tcp_faq.aspx)
“If an individual is suspended by the USEF, that individual’s USHJA Trainer Certification or Provisional status will be suspended for the same time period. Upon completion of the USEF suspension period, the individual’s USHJA Trainer Certification will be reinstated, absent good cause to the contrary. Reinstatement of the individual’s USHJA Trainer Certification remains at the sole discretion of the USHJA.”
DON SLAUGHTER OF EQUISPORT INTERNATIONAL
July 21, 2008 I purchased a horse from Mr. Slaughter for $20,000.00. Before buying the Holsteiner/TB I paid for a pre-purchase vet check and there was nothing in the vet check that gave me cause for concern so I did not request a reduction in the purchase price. The agent who showed me the horse was named Donald Slaughter and he is the one who to whom I paid the purchase price. He told me he was the trainer representing the horse for the owner. Don Slaughter told me that if I ever saw the owner at a horse show or anywhere else, I should not discuss with her the purchase price of the horse. I found this strange but did not want to confront him about it. After quite a bit of time went buy I still did not receive the registration papers for the horse and I questioned Don Slaughter about it. He gave me one excuse after another as to why the papers had not yet arrived. Finally, I decided to contact the owner directly to ask her why she had not yet provided me with the horse’s registration papers. The owner of the horse told me she was waiting to see the horse’s vet report and Don had yet to provide it to her. I told the owner there was nothing wrong with the vet report and that is when I learned from her that Don Slaughter told her that I was only willing to pay $14,000.00 for the horse NOT $20,000.00 as agreed because of the vet check findings. The owner of the horse within the statute of limitations took Mr. Slaughter to small claims court and she was awarded the additional monies owed to her. This is in fact public record. Mr. Slaughter has not paid a penny towards restitution. I am saddened that this industry and the many outstanding professionals have turn a blind eye to such a dishonest person. I am even more saddened that the show fees and costly memberships to the various federations we shell out to each year don’t protect us from people like Don Slaughter either. Although U.S.E.F has no problem protecting themselves by suspending him for not paying his show fees. Whatever happened to morality, ethics, honor? Once he reconciles his bill they will reinstate him and he will be back for the next shake down if he is not already in the middle of one as I am writing this.
Cheer’s to you Mr. Slaughter

What a nightmare!
You are doing all that you can to protect others, by posting here. Unfortunately there is really no other way to protect yourself from dubious horse people.
Thanks for sharing your experience. At least 5000+ people have seen this thread and are now aware of Don Slaughter, Equisport International’s history and can now avoid him and caution others to do the same.
Bump.:):
Over 7,000 have viewed this thread. (Over 7,000 now know to beware).
Yikes. Here it is again. Just change Don Slaughter’s name in the above post to Jill Burnell of Gray Fox Farms (stallions Redwine, Romantic Star, etc) and it’s the same lament, same sense of disappointment with USEF.
Majority of post removed due to emails received.
Don does not have a good reputation in this area, and I would not do business with him. A vet friend of mine is owed a pile of $$$$$ by him.
Humm… My farrier was here today and guess what? He said that Don Slaughter owed him for one horse and Don owes his partner a lot more than that. Looks like they will have to take a number. I don’t see Don Slaughter listed under the USHJA Trainer Certification like it says on his website. Can someone send me the link?
He stiffed our charity show TWICE
the first time a few years ago his checks in the amount of about $1500 bounced. The show secretary notified USEF and he had a hold placed until he paid up. The second show in 2011 he preregistered for a bunch of stalls and then no-showed, costing us revenue for stalls we could have otherwise sold to someone else since we had many requests. He got out of that with what to me sounded like a bogus story of how he had been taken to the hospital after a car accident. He managed to convince the show secretary, though, so we didn’t get to go after him this time. Our board does NOT want him back as a customer. Thankfully, his recent problems kept him from showing up at our 2012 show.
Oh, and I forgot to mention
that during the first show I saw him take a crop to the head of a horse that had acted up on him in the warmup ring. The show steward should have, IMHO, expelled him, but she just gave him a warning that any more abusive behavior would result in getting kicked off the show grounds. I wouldn’t let this man anywhere near my horse.
Here is the P.M. from Mr. Slaughter, sent to me. I post it only because his statement to me was false. He has apparently NOT “tendered payment” to USEF since he is still on the suspension list.
ETA: Sorry ,link will not work since I linked to P.M. which is “not done”, should have known that… Anyway, Mr. Slaughter, in his P.M. to me,stated that USEF unfairly held him responsible for the financial aspect of his show expenses and that he had “tendered payment” to USEF. Hmm… Mr. Slaughter you seem to think that I just fell off the turnip truck…you are still suspended ,guess you haven’t “tendered payment”.
