double bridle for the delicate head?

Any suggestions for a double bridle for a horse with a tiny head? My mare has super delicate features most of the crank nosebands dwarf her (plus make the bradoon rings stick straight out since there is no clearance.

Anky horse size double bridle comes in 1/2 cheek pieces. Pair that with rolled reins - looks great on delicate features. the browband is a little on the small size so you might have to swap that out.

I got mine on sstack.com. They have doubles for saddleseat horses, plus some breeds are more commonly shown in a double in other classes. Many Arabs, Saddlebreds, and Morgans have very refined heads, so the bridles are designed to show that off.

My super refined teacup muzzle guy looked great in a passier rolled double. I had to have it cut down though because he took cob size the noseband and length, but horse size behind the ears and the browband.

He also looked good in an albion double with the padded crownpiece. You can get those in narrow widths.

I personally think rolled is timelessly classic on a pretty head.

I put a rolled (french) cavesson off a hunter bridle on my guy’s rolled double. I also swapped out the browband (which are always too small) for one from Jayne from txwarmbloods.com

There’s a place in England that Cowgirl has/had the link to that is The Best Price on OS doubles, and in them you can mix/match as a custom order.

Free Spirits Saddlery in the UK has a house brand rolled with blingy (or not) browbands that is cheaper priced and lovely quality leather. You can get comfort crowns too. They also carry Stephens which is a YUMMY brand of rolled for not horribly much.

Over here, Bobby’s is a good, value option (not cheap, but lovely leather) and you can get a Bobby’s with a regular french cavesson.

I personally wouldn’t do Bobby’s. That’s what I have and it is TINY. I actually might just put it on Ebay since I semi-retired my mare that it almost fits, and my two young horses are just enough bigger that it’s not going to work on them at all. It is marked as a cob size, but it’s more of a pony size, and with super-short reins.

I wouldn’t buy Bobby’s again.

I had a Pilot gelding with a very tiny head and very little space between his bit area and where his jaw started. The best bridle I found for him was the Keiffer double bridle. It fit him very well and the crank had a very small piece under the jaw which helped give him more room. I also used a ChinEase from EuroAmerican Saddlery which helped keep his jaw area comfortable since he didnt have much room down there either. I hope you find something!

Go rolled! While rolled makes the normal WB head look clownish, it really brings out the gorgeous features of a horse with delicate features! I second the Passier vote! Hope you find one!

We faced this challenge with out GRP stallion Popeye and found a very nice one from Thinline.
