Double Mane on OTTB

Anyone else have an OTTB with a double mane?
I’ve never seen this on an OTTB, but I’m thankful. There’s no way I’d dare thin it. There has been an attempt at training it to one side but that just enraged the hair gods. Sometimes I think his mom had a fling with some other man.

I’ve known one. It was quite cute on her. Thank heavens she was a jumper & so didn’t have to be braided. It was like riding a muppet!

I have one!
His part boarder is a grooming fanatic, and after 7 years she’s given up the ghost on training it to one side. She trims it instead of thinning or pulling.
I wish his tail were as thick as his mane.

I won’t be out until Thursday night but I’ll try to take a photo. It won’t be pretty though–dark, muddy, etc.

I had one with a double mane. I trimmed it as he HATED to have his mane pulled and it did absolutely no good to pull it or trim it or thin it. It went wherever it wanted to  He was a grandson of Halo on top and Nijinsky on bottom. Loved him, but lost him to kidney failure 4 years ago.

Mine has a double mane. I tried to thin and trim to one side for years. Finally gave up a few years ago and just trim on each side.

They aren’t great. I had to put the feed bin low and blindly take a photo on my tip toes. If it weren’t pouring I would have taken one while in the saddle.

I appreciate the effort, @allsport! Wow, that is a lot of hair! I can honestly say I’ve never had the problem of one with too much mane, so I’m afraid I have no help, just curiosity.
