And now this has happened to me too but Dover SWEARS up and down it’s not them? The receipt inside the package from eBay was a Dover receipt and had MY NAME and address on it?!

yes and the price was not what I paid but the Dover retail price. Dover packaging, Dover receipt, my info - only different thing was price paid. One weird thing was that when I tried to leave eBay feedback, seller was not active any longer.

There is either something scammy going on or else Dover is selling on eBay below MSP for some reason. Dover SAYS it’s not them… but why would someone bother to falsify a Dover receipt under these circumstances?

Yes, the receipt part is the weird part. Lots of companies sell for lower prices on eBay. My guess is there is a part of Dover doing this but customer service reps are not aware of the situation.

And the CS rep (who struggled a bit to communicate with me AT ALL) didn’t seem to care at all?!

Ebay explained that the scamming account is using fraudulent cards to purchase the items after the ebay auction is finished. Once you pay for the ebay auction item, they use your info to purchase the item via Dover. Then they get the money and the account gets soon deleted because it is a scam. I have actually been refunded my money via ebay and STILL received the item. Dover has nothing to do with it, I am sure these scammers are just looking for items that they can post a generic photo and get a decent amount of money.

Thanks for the explanation - had not seen your earlier post. That bums me out that they are fleecing Dover (in my name no less). Makes sense about the photo because I bought a Rambo fly sheet which is always a shock photo.

@mychestnutvalentine I had this happen with eBay. I called Dover, they said exactly what you said. Reported it as fraud with PayPal and eBay, got a refund and sent the item back to Dover.

When I called they took it seriously. Said the police were involved but there was little they can do unless eBay steps in. The seller keeps changing their name.

I gave them the two names and email addresses I had for the seller. So hopefully that trickled up to someone who cares from the CS person I spoke to. I kept telling her it appeared to be fraud and that she should tell a manager. So hopefully she did.

Well, if Dover is struggling, sign me up. N = 1 here, so I realize statistical significance is lacking ;), but I ordered a helmet midday on the 10th and it arrived today, the 12th. Even Smartpak can no longer be counted on to get me things on the timely schedule it once operated on (monthly supplement orders included), so this was a nice, speedy delivery in my book.

Gotta laugh: just to add, my order confirmation email listed my shipping method as “2-9 business days” - yup! Just not very often it’s closer to the “2 days” than to the “9 days,” with the whole pandemic thing… I’m in MD, so likely one of several local shops was my shipping location, so the rest of the country may not be so lucky.

Yeah, I’m in MD, too, and ordering from Dover has been fabulous. I get my stuff very quickly.

Haha yes its me! Sorry I don’t check my COTH very often! I am! We have decided to start small though with a mobile trailer first. I’m in the process of finding a trailer, getting suppliers etc! And yes, when you are ready for a stand let me know! I can meet you with it so no shipping!
