None of their numbers are working and email receives no response. Curious if others have had similar experiences.
No I got a delivery from Dover this week. Ordered online and delivered in 2 days.
Ordered something few days ago and received message from them re: shipping, immediately. Still getting daily advertising emails. Their 800# is working.
”+1 (800) 406-8204”¬
Is not. And it’s the one I got from their website.
Just worked for me. 3:13 EST
Good to know! I did not mean to start unnecessary drama. It’s still not working for me, but I did find where their email
response to me went into my spam. Nothing to see here!
Glad things are working out!
Most if not all of the customer service reps are working remote. It’s possible that a glitch in forwarding has happened. My local store is curbside only and has been very busy.
I just called to check on an order. They have a skeleton crew working right now, but they are working!
Me too.
I’ve received online orders and just yesterday a curbside order
I have actually heard that they are in financial trouble.
I did hear that they were over their heads with all the stores they opened. But the poster asked if the phones were down. But I agree I have heard that, as well.
That much is definitely true. They have been low-performing as a company for many years and their retail expansion was an ill-advised attempt to invigorate the company and brand in the face of heavy Internet competition and the in-person competition of show vendors that people tend to buy from, when they find good deals or need something ASAP. Like other retailers, many customers will go into a Dover store, look at things, then buy them online or from other sources, cutting down on store revenue. Physical retail locations really only work when you have a solid customer base that has to buy from you or wants to buy from you and it’s a niche business as it is, especially with the decline in Equestrian sports over the past twenty years.
I do find Dover is cheaper than any local store and usually buy from them.
GucciJumper they actually aren’t any cheaper with normal products than us smaller independent shops. They sell their own lines that are cheap - but those are their brands. There’s no price comparison to be made. TS breeches are the same price across the board. A lot of the time they do list the regular price and then put them on ‘sale’ but here’s the thing about their sale price - most shops have that as their everyday price. They like to give the illusion of a constant sale when it’s really just smoke in mirrors.
I think with so many people working remotely - zoom and other video conferencing systems not to mention the population they systems are overloaded some. Similar thing happened at a Mexican restaurant on Cinco deMayo could not get thru on the phone. Had a fun time waiting in line for my order which yes did include margaritas ! Thank you Gov Hogan. But I digress - dover could be experiencing both overloaded phone systems and significant drop in sales. With so many barns shut down. No show etc the last thing many of us are thinking about is tack or apparel.
I find that dewormer, fly spray, treats, grooming supplies, etc. are a solid 30% more expensive at my local independent shop than through Dover.
I also find Dover is able to offer many products for less. Sometimes it’s just a dollar or so, but sometimes the difference is really, really big.
tack stores that sell items you can’t get at dover, like custom brands and lesser known brands, seem to do better. There are quite a few in my area that do this and do well, but those tack stores that just sell the same stuff as the big box brands never last long.
But that is all off topic.
I actually entered and shopped INSIDE of Dover today. I was so excited, I think I had been having tack store withdrawals.
I bought several pairs of their breeches a few months ago and one of their sun shirts. I love them. They also have a very good selection of Ariat clothing. I buy a lot of Ariat due to the fit and it holds up well. Their horse blanket brand is also a good buy for the price. At our local store the service cannot be beat. Hoping it stays open but realize it may not. A lot of retail bricks and mortar stores are not going to survive especially in the horse world.
