so I bought my mare a rain sheet about a year ago. I noticed the lining was torn this winter. Outside in great shape but the lining had several tears. Never had that happen before and she has other blankets that size from this company. Since they have a guarantee I emailed customer service explained I had no receipt but they said hey go ahead and return it, so I did. Today I got a cheap fleece. NOT the waterproof turnout I returned. WTH??? I called customer service and a supervisor is supposed to call me back but seriously… How does someone not look at the return and KNOW it!s not a fleece? I assume someone got lazy and just looked up a previous order where I did actually order that fleece online. But ai still have that one, it is on her stall door… What I SENT was a waterproof turnout.
That sounds like just a really simple picking mistake (fleece was in the area of the warehouse where turnout sheets were supposed to be). It happens… Annoying but I wouldn’t personally use the term “fiasco” to describe this, especially since Dover is looking into resolving it for you?
Man, it’s really something when you can send something back, without a receipt, worn and with tears, a year old - and it’s a “fiasco” when they send you the wrong free item in return and they’re looking into resolving it for you.
Ten to one you’ll get to keep the “cheap fleece” too, so win win!
My thought is that the OP ordered this item online so they know that the OP ordered the item - in other words, the computer has the receipt.
YOu lost me at “had it about a year and had no receipt”. Really… the fact that they’re willing to replace it for you, even though you can’t prove you bought it from them or when outweighs a simple picking error. Stuff happens…
Does the OP know what the word “fiasco” means? It does not mean what the OP seems to think it means.
Not a fiasco.
Was expecting a fiasco (who doesn’t love a good fiasco?) Thread does not deliver. Bummer.
Somebody has read too many clickbait titles…I guess it worked, I did open the thread!
This is like the time I returned a filthy bareback pad to them like a year later when I found one with buckles in a better place, and they took it back without question and only a side eye at the register… total fiasco!
I can not imagine doing that… I just can not. Just because you can does not mean you should. Wow… just wow.
Agreed.
Both ecpolo and OP returned a product a YEAR later with, in my opinion, only issues caused by normal wear and tear, and OP is complaining?
OP, please try this with any other company. I know if you tried this in any other tack store they would laugh you out the door.
Wow. I think the OP needs to look up the definition of “fiasco”. I’m Canadian so I don’t get to deal with Dover “fiascos” like this (the horror!). Our one big Canadian retailer is Greenhawk, which has it’s own house brands. Someone once gave me a cooler that was waaaaaaayyyyy to small for my horse. It was a gift, and I was too polite to ask for the receipt. The blanket was brand new, never out of the bag, Greenhawk’s house brand (meaning it could not have come from a different retailer) and all I wanted was to exchange it for the right size in the exact same product. And they wouldn’t do it, so I accepted that and gave the cooler away.
I would never in a million years return a dirty, used, year old item and expect a replacement, let alone complain when the company agreed to do it but accidentally sent me the wrong free item. Holy crap, entitled much?
They actually told me to when I was in there looking a the new one and complaining about how I hated the old one, so I figured why not. Haha.
Meh. OP says they have a guarantee so I don’t think there was any harm in returning. I’d likely do the same under those circumstances. I do agree this has not yet hit the level of fiasco. A pain (because she has to follow up again, possibly send item back, wait for the correct item some more), but not really a fiasco.
well… when Dover does do away with its generous return policy, you can for sure thank people like above who have abused the system.
and here I am, waffling about returning a sheet I had for 2 months that broke down within a few weeks of use…
That was my thought too. Just like that one thread we had about the person who bought cheap used Smartpak stuff and then returned it and got full price credit for other stuff. I do not get people who even slightly think that is OK, let alone something to brag about on the internet.
Nothing but positive for dover from me. I ordered 5 large rubber hanging feed tubs. The box arrived and two of the buckets were missing the u-hooks for hanging (each bucket has 3, and a total of 4 clips were missing). I called Dover and asked to be sent the missing clips.
They resent the entire order. I called them and asked if I could drop the extra/incomplete buckets at the warehouse down the road. They just said to keep them all.
I spend a lot more money with Dover solely because of their return policy, so I don’t really object to this person’s use of it, but I will say I don’t think this is any sort of fiasco. I hope Dover doesn’t discontinue their policy.
