With all due respect to Dr. Cook, who was one of my teachers, he did not “found” TUSVM.
If credit should be given to any one individual, it would be Dr. Jean Mayer.
Having said that, Cook was brilliant and quirky, and I loved doing an elective rotation with him.
The man took the most lengthy detailed histories you could imagine, was able to do remarkably accurate imitations of abnormal equine respiratory noises, and was an amazing diagnostician. And had a great sense of humor.
