Dr. H.L. Todd Addis

If you have hunted in Southeastern Pennsylvania, or read The Chronicle when Cookie McClung wrote about her hunting escapades, chances are you have met or heard of my great uncle, Dr. Todd Addis, affectionately known as “Doc.” Sadly, Doc passed away unexpectedly this morning. A Penn-trained veterinarian, Doc was charming, generous, and a joy to follow in the hunt field. His smile was infectious, his tales astounding, and his presence larger than life. He will be so very missed. I am forever grateful to Doc and the Addis family for introducing me to hounds, fox hunting, and the beautiful Chester County countryside. Kick on, Uncle Todd.

Doc leaves a legacy not only for those lucky enough to have hunted behind him and his beloved Penn-Marydel hounds, but for the entire hunting world. Penn-Marydel hounds benefitted from his knowledge and skill as a breeder and promoter.

Heartfelt condolences to his family and legion of friends, of which I am one.

Thanks Doc. We will hunt on here as you join the heavenly chase. Tally-Ho.

My sincere condolences. I had the privilege of hunting with Doc Addis’s hounds once. It was awe inspiring to hear 30 couple of hounds roaring through the woods toward us. A wall of sound. One of my most indelible memories in hunting. And I’ve hunted all over Ireland, England and Virginia. His was a life well lived.

I used to live and ride in Elverson and Doc Addis was a legend in the best possible way. My condolences to your whole family.
