Interesting! A bit pricey though-- about $65 just for the pony size!
I would soooo love a better solution than the normal grazing muzzle. Scarlett O’Hairy really has to wear one, but she absolutely hates it. Makes me feel bad.
I don’t think it really looks better.
I’m with Chardevj on this. i don’t think that looks any better than what is already available. I actually think it looks a bit more claustrophobic than the one I have.
Still darned if I can see how a horse can possibly get ANY grass through that tiny little hole!
I think it looks more like Hannibal, I’m not crazy about it.
I don’t think the horses will prefer that over the other types.
Thank you for sharing, MM.
I have to muzzle all our guys, so I am always looking at different options available.
I am not particularly impressed with this one. It might work for our riding horse, but minis? No way- too many openings, especially in corners.
I can picture them bracing the muzzle against the ground, then twisting their sneaky greedy mouths, and finally grazing their little hearts out.
Staying with Best Friend for now.
In the article, the mold is mentioned, but we have never had problems with that. We wash and scrape the muzzles with a wire brush daily, then leave them to dry thoroughly, while horses are in a paddock overnight.
good point emilia-- I can totally picture that sneaky sideways move also.
Note that those tiny slits on the bottom are actually punch-outs, so you can customize how many wider openings you want. So the picture on the webside it not really what you’d have-- there would be more openings. And that’s kinda a neat feature.
I dunno, I think this one looks less restrictive to breathing. Not that the reg. muzzles prevent inhaling, but I am certain that they’re getting less fresh air than a horse without one on. When I run in really cold weather in the winter, if I have ANYthing in front of my face, even just a handkerchief loosely over my nose, I totally notice that it traps CO2 from exhaling. Every now and then I have to pull it away from my face and gulp fresh oxygen. I am sure horses experience the same minor buildup of CO2 – nothing that’s a problem, but it’s an annoying feeling.
It looks almost exactly like a Greenguard muzzle.
Hm. Interesting design but I don’t think it is preferable to the tough-1 easy breathe muzzles. It’s also very expensive.
Thanks for posting though! It’s an interesting design for sure.
I don’t think it looks any better plus it looks to me like there are all kinds of places for it to get hung up on something. I’ve been using Best friend muzzles for years and have gotten a lot of use out of them and the other thing to remember is a dry lot is a great option!

Personally, not much I would buy from her.
The way my pony could use his lip, I bet he could sneak a bunch through that thing. I guess someone’s trying ")
