draft flank cinch

Am going to my first ranch riding class/show with my oversized QH. Dug up an old breast collar & flank cinch for the show. Breast collar fine. Flank cinch - nope.

f I am on the very last hole on the billets I can get it on, but then the billets don’t go in the keepers etc. All of the ones in the barn are ~33-36". I don’t thing the billets are too short, they come all the way past his belly. I need a longer cinch section, but i’m having a hard time finding it. Any suggestions? He’d not a little reiner, but I didn’t think he was that big.

Near any leather shops or Amish areas. You could easily get one made.

I am in the boonies…

Generally, where are you. Any place that does leather strap goods should be able to make one.

While the flank cinch “completes the look” it is not a required piece of tack and you can show without.

Can you show a picture of what you’ve got on your horse?
What brand of saddle is it?

Martin Saddlery makes an extra long flank cinch that I know of.

I am not at a point where I can take photos - everything is packed up to go to a show.

Courts saddle, I am going to reasses when we get there. My trainer showed him in a flank cinch & I don’t remember it being anything extraordinarily long. Mine is a standard size, compared it to the others at the barn. Maybe my rigging rings are higher up? We’ll see. I don’t like the breast collar w/o the flank cinch, so maybe I’ll just use neither. Not like we’re dragging cows.

Did find out my very small local tack shop has a “leather guy” in the back room that can make me one if I need to. This shop is the size of a small closet & has a very limited selection, but there is a “leather guy” Go figure.

NRS has extra long flank cinches, maybe long enough for you?

this is the problem I am running into, these aren’t any longer than what I have at home. My horse is large, but not hurculean, so I think I need to check again before I go further. I can’t imagine what I might have been doing wrong, its not like this is rocket science, but I also can’t see how even the ones considered “extra long” wouldn’t help me much. I need to figure out the cause. I must be doing something wrong if my horse is the only one in the northern hemisphere that any standard cinches won’t fit.
Thank you all for the help
