i love this thread with all the photos!
I also have a Horsewear one, in the more turquoise-y green. Actually got a lot of compliments when I wore it at my baby’s first recognized show last year.
It would probably look great with the grey too, since it has silver piping on the collar, I just haven’t shown her enough at shows where I’ve actually had to wear a coat to find out!
Shows around here also seem to be much better about preemptively waiving coats for summer weather, which I really appreciate. While it doesn’t look as fancy, I don’t think a polo or sunshirt looks any less athletic than a jacket, and is much more comfortable in the MidAtlantic summer.
Oooooh Black or charcoal would be so sharp!
White breeches, especially for jumping, have always smacked of hubris and tempting the gods in my mind.
I compete in black breeches on a dark brown horse with a lavender jacket and get plenty of complements and they are sooooo much more flattering! I think black breeches would look great with that maroon jacket. If your horse is a dark color, you might want to go with a colored saddle pad if you go with black breeches. I use a dark purple pad so there is a little bit of contrast between everything but nothing jumps out as “top much”!
I hate tight collars and I am unfortunately not blessed with an elegant, swan like neck…
My searches have led to the Goode Rider Luxe show shirt. A stand up, split collar. Phew.
I show in this Goode Rider shirt with stand-up collar. It’s super comfortable.
I havent shown in a long time and only recently attended some schooling shows as a spectator. When I showed it was common for even riders at schooling shows to wear a stock tie. It seems I have seen much more relaxed clothing now.
Anyway, many dealt with the difficulty of feeling strangled by collar and stock tie back then by using a bib stock tie. You would wear a comfy cool tee shirt or even tank top (no fancy fabrics back then!). Then shortly before your ride time you added the bib http://griffinbrook.com/opencart/bib-stock-tie and your jacket. Jackets were waived less often then even though they were so hot! So you needed a different solution if you rode without a jacket.
