dressage barn alpharetta, ga

Hi
I am moving to Alpharetta next month and I am looking for a dressage barn with turnout for 2 horses.
Any suggestions for good places and what places to stay away from?
thanks!
Karen

I actually just went through this search myself!!!
Sent you a PM with some suggestions.

Shannondale Farm offers much more turnout time than most of the other barns in the area - 4-5 hours per day, in small compatible groups (2-3 horses per group), and on good sized and well maintained pastures. They have a lovely covered arena, grass jump field (where we often work the dressage horses when the weather is nice), and even trails through the woods surrounding the property. It is pretty pricey, but the amenities and care are fantastic (very good quality feed and hay, every horse gets groomed every day after turnout, a very experienced and involved BO, etc.). We have no drama there, and me and my horses are loving it! http://www.shannondale.com/

I second the recommendation for Shannondale. The care is absolutely topnotch and the turnout is fabulous. My horse has never been happier.

If I were anywhere near Alpharetta, I would be as close to Roel Theunissen as possible - I love riding with this guy!!!

He is at Applewood, though, right? Not much turnout there, unfortunately.

You will like it here!! I live in Alpharetta and there are many options available. There are several top notch facilities all less than 12 miles from my home. Milton, Alpharetta, and the neighboring counties are full of really nice facilities. Alpharetta has its own equestrian park (Wills Park) and we have one of the 18 Dover Saddlery stores in the country. I’ll send you a PM on some of my favorites.

where did you end up?

We are moving there soon, also. We have 1 dressage and 2 trail horses. We are used to paying $350 for boarding at a nice facility in Arizona and all we seem to find are $1,000/month barns. Just wondering what you found there.

Please send those suggestions to me, as well. We are moving to the area in February. We have 1 dressage and 2 trail horses. We pay $400/month for boarding at a nice facility in Arizona and all I seem to find in Fulton Co. are $750 and up…ouch!

Please send me some suggestions as well. We are moving to the area in Februray and coming out in a few days to scout houses and barns. We are used to paying $400 each to board our horses at a nice facility in Arizona, so we are having sticker shock at what we are seeing in your area…

I have a question about shannondale, is it only for people who own horses and wish to train or does it offer lessons on lesson horses? Do you have to have a horse to train there? Thanks

Andalusians, I would recommend you call Julie Shannon and ask her what types of programs she offers. No one on this board is going to know what services she has available better than her! She is a nice lady. You will enjoy talking with her.
