Oooh I wear a 34 (I think) and have no butt!
Nope, more like 26/28, but thanks!
And actually speaking of Horze for anyone with similar body shape to me following along I just tried a pair of B.Vertigo Tiffany breeches, and they fit great!
I just got a pair of these in the knee patch version, and they are perfect.

For straight hips, no butt reference, my measurements are 37-31-38. LOL
Thank you for all these suggestions!! Just to update for anyone who comes across this later, I’ve tried the following breeches that work well for my body type, which is pretty narrow hips but very little waist definition:
- B. Vertigo Tiffany - I like these a lot and they fit well and are comfortable. Not my favorite fabric.
- Pikeur Candela full grip - fabric is a little stiffer and less stretchy, but great fit. These are significantly cheaper bought from an overseas source
- Cavallo Camille - These fit more like leggings than the others. I generally don’t gravitate toward this style, but these fit well and are very comfortable and breech-like enough, and seem like they’ll be especially great for summer. Unfortunately it seems to be a discontinued style and the color range is very limited.
- KL Select Gabrielle Full Seat - discovered these in a local tack shop, where I was able to try them on, and I absolutely love them, enough that I went back and bought more pairs in other colors.
All of these are “true to size” for me - 26 or the equivalent (German 38) fits just right.
On a whim I also tried a pair of Maya Delorez breeches, which are compression leggings but more breech-like and which people rave about, but I did not like these at all. The waist was way too tight with a ridge at the top of the waistband that dug into me unflatteringly and uncomfortably. I also found that the knees pulled annoyingly where the grip seams lie, and I generally didn’t like the styling (eg with the weird pocket).
I would still like to try the Samshield Diane.
One thing about the Pikeur Candelas (and yes I buy them overseas), the normal stretch gaberdine fabric (like they have for faux suede seat breeches) is a bit heavy, but wears like iron. The newer fabric that they are using on the models that have a cell phone pocket on the leg and has silicone grips rather than the full seat, is a stretchier fabric; the denim breeches, particularly in the black color is lighter and stretchy (but more cottony than the new fabric) and I love these for the summer. Also, they make a fantastic winter breech in this model–warm softshell fabric and windproof and wears very well. They come in two weight also–the older model with the full seats is heavier and less stretchy; and the newer material with the silicone dotted seat is a bit stretchier and lighter weight (has a cell phone pocket) and more comfy. Interestingly, on the denim ones, I find they fit slightly differently based on color–the blue denim has less give and is normal sized; the black denim is stretchier and slightly bigger (or stretches out a bit); the gray ones seem too small and I would almost go up a size.
I guess all the ones you tried are full seat? Have you encountered any knee-patch for a straight body type?
I don’t wear knee patch breeches, so I have no specific input - but in some cases there may be knee patch versions of some of the FS breeches discussed here. Eg I think the B Vertigo Tiffany comes in knee grip, and it works great for a straight body shape (I’m betting that other Horze breeches would as well, based on responses here and things I’ve seen elsewhere, but I haven’t tried any). Another that I’ve discovered that I didn’t mention on the list in my earlier post - the Kerrits Ice Fil Affinity breeches worked really well for my shape, and they come in both knee and full grip.
Thank you! Will go shopping very soon. i’m taking about four pair of breeches to the stable today to let anyone who wants / fits take them A.W.A.Y.!!! from me. Their seats are too big and rub me and cause welts. It’s time for them to find another body!
I have Dianes in this size still new with tags that I got in Europe if someone is looking for them. I sized down out of them before I could use them.
I am straight up and down, B Vertigo, Pikeur Candela, Samshield Diane, and Euro-Star all fit me pretty well, but I’ll hand it to Samshield that they can design a very flattering pant. I worked out my way to something approaching a butt, but breeches are still generally too tight in the waist if they fit my hip and thigh. I have found that european brands tend to cut more for this figure, particularly Italian.
Equinavia breeches linked above—I have the knee patch version.
I bought them from Dover, by the way. They are summer weight.

They look nice. I’ve never had a mid-rise. So, if you have belly fat, do the waistband slide down below roll your belly roll or stay put, kinda right in the middle of it? Also, i’m wondering what is ‘euro seat’
I can’t answer the belly question. Look at the pictures of the back of the breeches. That’s a euro seat. Dover offers free returns on sized items, so you can always send them back.
Back when I had a straight body type, my favorites were Pikeur Laguna. I bought them in Europe so the price was sane.
They make me look like a mushroom now.
i was so hopeful with this thread, then got weary trying to pick my way through the breeches and bought three new riding tights instead. I’ve spent a lot of money on riding pants, and end up giving most of them away. Do not know if i’ll ever show, but if i do, i’m afraid it’ll be in riding tights.
Thanks for sharing your findings! I have a similar body type and my favorites so far are Romfh Isabellas (26), full grip, and Pikeur Candela denim full grip. Haven’t tried the KL Select Gabrielle - will give them a try, although I tend to reach for breeches w silicon grip more than my full seats, even when they’re really, really soft deerskin/leather
I also have a straight body type, and will have to recommend my cheapo Dover Saddlery breeches. IME, they fit straighter body types and I’ve enjoyed the breeches with silicone snaffle bit overlays. They fit me well. I really don’t have hips and have always been limited in the brands of breeches I can purchase. Cavallo also fit me well.
Hello “buttless wonders” (just kidding), I no longer spend much on breeches after trying so many. My last two, and my faves, have been riding sport tights (on sale now for $34 fro Dover) and some Aubrion tights. I have a 29" waist and 35" hip and the b/c I like a loose fit, I go for Large, though I suspect the medium would fit nicely. Stretchy fabric helps.
I just went through a similar quest for breeches - i’m also very straight/no butt. My favorites were the old Rompf champions, which are discontinued now. I went to my local used tack store and ended up with four pairs to try - I hate that I don’t know how I like them until I really ride, and they are just too expensive for me to trial and error! Ended up with the following:
- FITS Flex full seat: These are REALLY thin, but comfortable. I’m a bit more ‘traditional’ so it felt weird wearing pants that thin. The new “flex leather” is very sticky, almost silicon like.
- GoodeRiders: These are the closest to the old Champions. Thicker fabric, clarino seat. Will probably rebuy these new.
- Pikeur Nandina: these are amazing. They also (Sadly) Seem to be discontinued but they are the perfect lightweight stretch knit, not too clingy, and the perfect mid rise for me.
- Ovation Celebrity Secrets: These were the wild card for me, but they were brand news with tags and white and dirt cheap at the local tack store. Really like them, very comfy. Nothing “special”, and they are def not the quality of the goodriders or the pikeurs, but perfect a white breech they I will likely destroy in one season.
I’ve found the Correct Connect breeches to be incredibly comfortable, hard-wearing, practical and inexpensive (under $100). Since getting my first pair I find I reach for them all the time over everything else in my closet. They are sort of structured riding tights with silicone dot full seat with the best phone pocket I’ve found. I showed in their white one this weekend and will do so even at GP. The stretch means they can adapt to a broad variety of shapes including us buttless wonders, muffin tops, etc. And they are comfortable enough to work out in at the gym, like athletic leggings. No camel toe, not see-through. I only wish they had more colors but am grateful they at least have both winter weight and summer weight.
