Dressage Discussion Opportunity post WEG

When looking at the schedule of events for October 1st, I noticed the opportunity for an awesome discussion.
Eventing Dressage October 1st at 1:00pm
Dressage Freestyle October 1st at 7:00pm

It’s rare to be able to see “eventing dressage” and “primary discipline dressage” live in the same day, let alone those who are considered to be the best, live in the same day. I’m attending both events to spark discussion of who’s closest to the standard, who’s holding a candle to the classical teachings, etc.

Unless I’m mistaken, 4* eventing dressage is about the equivalent of 4th Level, Test 1. Not really a fair comparison to GP dressage.

Yes, apples and oranges level wise in some ways…

But in others… I got to watch the Eventing dressage from the last Olympics live on the 'net thanks to working midnights. I found it incredibly moving and joyful.

There’s a different level of submission wanted–you want an eventer to think for themselves and take care of themselves in a way that you don’t want an upper level dressage horse to.

I think I have tickets for both. Will be interesting.
