Dressage Freestyle - Updates

Well, the judges loved Chalott’es music.

When my grandson was over here and I babysat him, I brought up Fuego’s freestyle - he thought it was my own milk white mare, and I didn’t have the heart to tell him otherwise and ruin my cred.

What a crowd favourite.

I only just now got a chance to watch the freestyles.

I love how Charlotte and Valegro have changed GP dressage. The lightness and love and partnership that they show is flowing to other riders, and the difference from watching an elite class from say 2010 to now is very pleasing. I enjoy Isabel Werth and her new mare, too.

I thought Laura and Verdades put down a glorious test, much better than Broring/Sprehe/Desperados or Schneider/Showtime. (I liked Hester/Nip Tuck better than those two german rides also.)

Still, so exciting to see three Americans and three British advance to the freestyle, thrilled to see Valegro go out on top, thrilled for Laura and Verdades, and exciting to see the Spanish rider come from ‘nowhere’ to score near the top too.

The future of elite dressage looks brighter to me than it did a decade ago, which makes me happy.
