Dressage in Great Falls, Va?

Anyone know of any trainers that would travel to teach in that area or any ideas on training in that area? Thanks!

Check out www.vadanova.org , the web site of the Northern VA Chapter of the VA Dressage Association.
The site has a listing of trainers. I don’t know of any in Great Falls off the top of my head, but perhaps if you emailed the board of directors, one of them might know of someone.

Also, if you ever get a chance to go to Clifton Saddlery, they’re a great resource for information on different trainers in the NoVA area.

NOVA freelance trainers

Though I am based in Potomac, I have started to freelance train in the Fairfax County area of NOVA because so many people have asked. I assume the demand means that there are not many other trainers in the area willing to travel. I know with real estate prices, it is hard to have a barn in this area and many trainers are based further out towards Middleburg/Warrenton/Maryland past Potomac.

Hilary Moore

Hilary Moore is the only dressage trainer I have heard of that travels to Great Falls. I know some eventers go out there also.

Linda Koenigsburg (sorry if I spelled that incorrectly!) used to train in Great Falls-she lived there, I believe she may have moved to Alexandria??? The problem is the limited amount of land left in Great Falls which forced many of us as riders to leave Fairfax County and go elsewhere, I think the trainers followed us.

I would go by Great Falls Saddlery and ask if they can recommend anyone. Lucy Masemer might know of someone, she used to host clinics on her farm many years ago. Not sure who is working out of GF Horse Center anymore but they might know as well.

Linda Konigsburg moved to Arlington but trains out of my facility. She is incredible and her students from Great Falls have continued with her and trailer in to Kingland Farm for her training. You are welcome, too  She’s truly amazing!

Hey Holly, thanks for helping me with my spelling faux pas! I spelled it like the BOOTS-oops!! Hope you’re well.

No problem  All is well and I’m excited about the warm weather! Hope to see you soon . . . if not, we have a date in July, right? (scoring)

If you’ll consider an event person with a very solid dressage foundation, try Denise Rath at Grey Fox Farm. http://www.greyfoxfarm.com She is in Florida for the winter, but will probably be back in mid-late March. She is wonderful - doesn’t sugar coat anything, but recognizes effort. Great for different learning styles and has experience with loads of different approaches and horse personalities.

Absolutely, wouldn’t miss our “annual” outing, hoping we can laugh as much! Hope to see you before then though!

Stefany Wolfe teaches at several facilities in Great Falls on the weekends:
