Dressage Instructors near Lubbock or Amarillo, TX?

Can anyone recommend a dressage trainer near Lubbock or Amarillo, TX? I’m in Clovis, NM and have been driving 3.5 hours one way (4 hours if you count the 30 minute drive to the barn first) to take lessons near Santa Fe, NM but that’s getting a bit absurd. Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Patty Sadler, Premier Park Equestrian
Lisa Whittenburg, Entirely Equestrian, Inc.
Both in Lubbock

Nancy Fram, Roswell, NM

My dressage trainer is and hour and a half away but well worth the trip. And my family thinks that is too far!

Thank you for the suggestions! Is there’s anyone here who takes from any of these instructors? I’d love to know a bit more about them (and my google searches are coming up relatively sparse.lol). Thank you again for the input!

The Hobbitt - my current trainer (when she lived in Lubbock) worked for Patty. I will get some info and PM you. Patty just found a horse for someone at our barn and it is a great match so I do know she has good skills in that area.

I just began teaching dressage in Lubbock at Blarney Stone Equestrian Center. I have 20+ years of experience in the sport and am 2/3 of the way towards my bronze medal. I have trained for two decades with Wolfgang May (until his death) and now with his widow Suzanne May. You can search CJB Dressage on Facebook or check out my blog at halfpassgirl.blogspot.com.

The Hobbit – are you still in Clovis?? I am headed there this summer and looking for some dressage/eventing people!!

The above recommendations are still valid – Patty Sadler in Lubbock has schooling shows and clinics several times a year, and there is also a lot of dressage up in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area.

There are several eventers in Amarillo/Lubbock/Midland, there are open jumper shows and horse trials. Check River Falls Equestrian Center, Virginia Creek Farm and Skyline Farm for info.

Patty Sadler is an excellent trainer and rider. I’ve been in Heather Blitz clinics with her over the last few years her reputation is stellar

No sadly she lives outside of NM/TX area. But the rest of us are still here. I grew up with Patty here in Lubbock, and use an associate of hers for my lessons and training who helped me train my own project horses… There is a great group of individuals here that really work hard at keeping schooling shows going and regular clinics several times a year including Heather Blitz who has been coming here lately. Several of the eventers from Amarillo come down here for events as well as hosting clinics up there.
I live an hour away so I don’t get to participate as much as I want sometimes (it’s been an insane year more me ugh), but CJB above would be an excellent person to contact for help.

I rode with Patty when I lived in Lubbock and I think she is great. She is bio-mechanics oriented. I feel like I improved a lot while I was with her. Good luck. That’s a long and lonesome drive!
