Hi There! Some of my fav instructors don’t travel anymore, so just wondering who does. ((BTW If there are any to avoid please PM me!))
Thanks!
Wish I was in your area. I travel far and wide. All my students have their own arenas. Hope you find someone.
Not in your area OP. So can’t help you…buttttt
I just asked my coach if she could come here. Holidays nixed my past two weeks of lessons, weather has been balmy and sunny too …and next ‘my day’ it’s only going to get up to 20. And i haul, so too cold to travel in stock trailer even blanketed. Sooo…we shall see. I have oh, six or seven horses i could put-through, so told her she can charge for however many lessons would make it worth her while to come. I might fizzle out after 2 or 3 hours and 5 or 6 horses…but i’ll be happy to pay her her price. I requested the next warm weekend day 1/8, a Sat. She doesn’t teach on weekends, so maybe she’ll make the time available for me?? (if it were me, and a student of mine missed three lessons in a row i think i’d accommodate)
Maybe you want to create a separate thread so as to not derail the OP’s post?
Wellllll…it’s been a couple of days and not much happening. Did not think i was being disruptive of an ongoing conversation…
So thanks for stepping in and trying to make things be the way they ought to be. I understand the complaint you have made.
So, no one?
You might ask Ampara Visser at A Training Vision. She’s a GP rider and is in the area. She has a very low social media profile but she’s great with the horses and an excellent teacher.
When I was looking, I couldn’t find anyone in the NoVa area that traveled. Most said they were too busy and no time, but happy for me to trailer in.
I think that unless you have at least a small group (or have multiple horses of your own to ride), it can be a challenge. My trainer will travel to other barns weekly for lessons (and does go to Middleburg and Berryville), but they prefer to have at least three people signed up before driving the hour or so to get there.
That being said, definitely check with Ampara. She used to come to my barn in SoMD about 10 years ago and always seemed like she was a lovely person and a compassionate, thoughtful trainer.
I’ve also heard great things about Ampara. I believe Lauren Spreiser’s assistant trainer will travel along with Jess Idol & Patrick Tigchelaar.
I don’t know how far she travels but Jennifer, owner of Half Pass Farm in Catlett does travel. She currently comes to the farm I board at once a week. I had to stop lessons recently to get some health stuff in order but she’s still working with the barn owner. I like Jennifer a lot. Very nice, funny, makes lessons fun and is so knowledgeable. I also appreciated the fact she was willing to take me (a rider with tons of health concerns) and my older gelding who is out of shape on. She was always very understanding of both of us and patient. I can’t wait to start lessons with her again. (Soon I hope!) Check and see if she’d be willing to travel to you. If she can’t she may be able to suggest someone else.
Check out Holly Wilmoth. She’s in Loudoun and travels.
thanks!!!
Also coming here to say how wonderful Jennifer is!
