Dressage Judges / Clinicians

Debbie Rodriguez is great – she’s a Facebook friend of mine (though I don’t really know her in person other than to have volunteered at an HT where she was officiating - I found her to be very fair and reasonable); I have a good friend who has scribed for her a couple of times, and Debbie is “all about the core”

When riders are coming down centerline, Debbie comments immediately (to the scribe) on whether or not the rider has good core strength, or whether they “need work” in this area.

Scribing is quite the education! I wish I could scribe, but the arthritis in my hands is so bad that there would be no way I could write quickly or for that length of time :disappointed:

Anyway, I’m sure you’ll have a great experience, and good luck!

I really liked a clinic I had with her!

Oh!! I hope she is doing well!! Just the nicest person, and a big help to me many moons ago.

Kristi Wysocki does clinics and symposiums. I attended an expo where she judged tests live, explaining specifics during/after including repeating movements after feedback. It was excellent.

Janet Foy has done a series of videos, “Through the Levels” (I think), where she comments as a rider goes through a test. Very helpful.

Based on how I’ve seen her score, I suspect there is an aspect of how thin or not that rider is in her snap judgment of this.

huh? So she never say’s it about skinny people? The lack of use of the core comes in all sizes!

Wow…. Based on several times I have scribed for her you are way off base. I have not seen that bias.

It might be helpful to clarify there are two Debbie Rodriguez dressage judges/trainers. One is from VA and Riehl-Rodriguez is from CO. She is an excellent clinician, frequently judges with Dolly.

Agreed.

It’s Debbie Riehl-Rodriguez who I’ve scribed for. Never heard a word about people’s build or weight.

I rode with her ( Debbie Riehl-Rodriguez) multiple times over the years (never showed under her though.) She was always so kind, soft spoken and encouraging. All while holding everyone to a high standard but in an encouraging way that just made you ride better.

It would be utterly shocking if she was biased towards riders based on weight. But again, never showed with her just rode with her.

Funny enough though, the other Debbie Rodriguez from VA has a workout video series all about the riders core. So it seems to be a passion for both.

Do you know which Debbie it is? Debbie Rodriguez from VA or Debbie Riehl-Rodriguez from CO? Interested because I am wondering if Debbie Riehl-Rodriguez is teaching clinics at all anymore. I heard she was scaling back. Loved riding with her. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Yup, that’s the Debbie Rodriguez I know! The other one may be the one that they’re talking about, though - thanks for the clarification.

Ditto.

Heather Stalker in FL is a judge who taught me basically a full-day private clinic the day I scribed for her. It was an incredible learning experience, and I’m not even a dressage rider! I think she’s an S judge now.

Debbie RR, (CO) is teaching an L program in UT nest winter, with Dolly Hannon. They were just here doing an intro session and a ride a test clinic.

Glad to hear she’s still teaching

The Debbie Rodriguez I’ve scribed for is the FEI 4-star dressage judge (among other things) and is based in VA.
