My daughter is in school at Texas A&M. She would like to find a place to take some lessons. She has a car and is a solid 1st level rider.
Anyone know a decent place in the area?
Thanks in advance
Lessons anywhere are getting harder and harder to find if you dont have a horse, BUT: There are dressage groups formed all across the country, called GMO’s which organize clinics, shows, educational events etc. Here is the Texas list. https://www.usdfregion9.org/gmo-list/
I would suggest that she contact those that operate in the general area where she will be. Most have websites and should list their members. Then its just finding one that has a horse available .
Some creativity might be helpful…for example I had a mare some years back who was sound and trained, but she wasn’t up for the work level I wanted. I couldn’t find anyone to lease her but I did know two different people who wanted to ride once a week or so. They paid me something like $30 a ride. One took lessons from an on site trainer, one was an upper level rider who was fighting cancer.
A part lease would be a great idea, but until she gets the hang of the workload, time availability etc I wouldnt make a commitment like that.
Here are some of the professionals in the area maybe one of them has lesson horses.
